I have been in this position reading reviews/testimonials before choosing where to place your trust with your rhinoplasty, so I know the importance of summarising the history of my nose journey such that people in a similar situation can find familiarity. Then I will highlight my great experience with Charles East; starting with the surgery then the entire process from the initial reaching out to post-care. I am a young male who had their first rhinoplasty with a different surgeon to correct my side profile. After removal of cartilage (note the nose was not needed to be broken), the side profile was improved and as desired. However there was severe scar tissue resulting in an unsymmetrical front-on view and poor ¾ profile view. In addition my nose had substantive discoloration red/purple. After steroid injections into the nose to reduce the swelling there was no improvement. Therefore 3 years post the first surgery I underwent a revision rhinoplasty with the same surgeon to target the swelling/scarring and asymmetry. This second procedure was only to remove scar tissue. Unfortunately to no avail, the scarring and asymmetry returned post-op and if anything greater discoloration. 2 years after my second rhinoplasty having gone through more steroid injections - still dissatisfied, I began searching for a new surgeon, discovered Charles with the great reviews of his work on this platform and decided to embark on a third surgery. Fast-forwarding to the surgery and the results, as I am sure that is what most people are interested in! Charles’ plan was to take some of my rib cartilage then use in my nose to provide more structure for the skin envelope to be supported by – thus leaving less room for scar tissue to enter. Charles was faced with a challenge inside my nose given the previous two rhinoplasties – he overcame them. I am 7 weeks post-op now and the results are remarkable. Firstly the ¾ view is amazing and I could not be happier. Secondly the front-on view targeting the symmetry has dramatically improved, far more definition and symmetry – so far no signs of scarring and uncontrollable swelling! What I am most happy with (which I was not expecting to improve after having another surgery, as I thought subjecting my nose to more trauma would make the colouring worse) is the fact the redness has subsided due to a technique Charles used to improve the health/recovery of my nose skin envelope. For only 7 weeks post-op I am ever so grateful and looking forward to the continuing recovery. Now I will touch on the process I had with Rhinoplasty London East & Badia. To get the ball rolling you have to submit a pre-assessment form which is important on self-reflection as to what aspects of your nose you are wanting to change whilst also understanding the limitations of a tertiary rhinoplasty. My application was treat with upmost attention especially given my past unsuccessful surgeries, and I provided past medical notes and photos from those procedures to aid this. Roughly a year after submitting my application I had my online video consultation with Charles. I felt at ease with him and he quickly understood what I was looking to achieve. Next step (under a month) was to get an ultrasound on my nose to access the depth of healthy tissue and if a third surgery was possible. Few weeks later the first face to face consultation with Charles and the team to have a feel of the nose, take photos, understand the risks involved and what was realistically achievable. Not once do you feel pressured to continue further than you wish. We agreed to pursue with a surgery, (date was set for ~9months later) and I was extremely appreciative that Charles focused only on my surgery that day given the complexities. This action re-assured me that I have placed my trust in the right surgeon. There is plenty of communication from Charles’ team and the hospital regarding checks leading up to the surgery day. On the day a final word with Charles and the anaesthesiologist before the procedure. Charles and the team update you how the procedure went on the day, you then follow the recovery documents and can expect a call from the team a few days later to hear how you are doing and answer any questions. 2 weeks later you are back in to see Charles and the team to talk about the surgery (see table photos), discuss after care needed and importantly take the cast off! Of course this is a big moment and the team do well to accommodate you. 6 weeks post-op I met with Charles again to asses how my recovery was going given my past of swelling and scarring. Photos were taken and we were both immensely happy with the achieved nose. My next check-up will be in 4 months’ time. I hope anyone reading this who has is in a similar position to which I have been in finds this useful. I am so relieved that a 6 year journey and tussle with my nose is near closing. Revision rhinoplasties are difficult, Charles has surpassed my expectations and I am truly thankful. If you have been tainted by prior rhinoplasties or looking to get your first…then have peace of mind by going to Charles East, I cannot stress that enough.
