Dr Chaterjee is hands down one of the best consultants I have had the pleasure of seeing. I suffered from terrible lower back pain for years and finally visited a few consultants for various opinions on what to do. I had a herniated disc and it caused unbearable sciatic nerve pain down my leg. One consultant immediately recommended a microdisectomy and another fusion surgery but Dr Chaterjee explained the pros and cons of each procedure and recommended the quicker and easier epidural injection under MRI which immediately relieved the pain and 4 years later I am still pain free in the gym and active. He saved me having to go through minor surgery to major surgery on top of the recovery and potential side effects. So I would say he is not only honest, honourable, careful but he does what is in the best interest of the patient always. I strongly recommend anyone with back pain or spine issues see him, he is by far the best of the best!

Total professionalism from start to finish and felt that my condition and symptoms were well understood There was clarity in the prognosis being explained. The problem with such efficiency and compassion is that there is a long line of patients waiting for Mr Chatterjee's help.

I went to see Mr. Chatterjee because I was still having problems in walking, despite earlier laminectomy operations to relieve the pressure on the sciatic nerve. Mr. Chatterjee listened carefully and sympathetically to my concerns, and explained the situation clearly and lucidly. He did not immediately jump to a decision to pursue a surgical route, but prescribed some sessions of hydrotherapy. These did have some beneficial effect but my walking did not improve. I asked him about the chances of success of another operation, which he reckoned were about 50%. I decided that this was worth going for. So, having re-examined a further MRI scan and discussed this with the panel of fellow specialists to decide the best options, the operation went ahead. He then discovered that the previous operation had not been 100% effective, and corrected the situation, leaving the sciatic nerve as clear as possible. The operation was done about a month ago. The immediate after-effects were exactly as Mr. Chatterjee had forecast, and I am now undertaking sessions of neuro-physiotherapy. I should add that during the whole process, Mr. Chatterjee demonstrated a total commitment to solving the problem - almost taking it on board as a personal challenge. I felt he was definitely on my side. It's too early to say if the operation was 100% successful, but I am now confident that everything has been competently and effectively done to address the problem.

I had a video consultation with Mr Chatterjee. He was extremely helpful and very approachable. He explained everything to me in a way that made it easy to understand. I found him to be a warm and understanding man who was interested in me as a person. He gave me far more of his time than I expected. I felt very confident and reassured even though my MRI showed more complications than I had imagined. He delivered the news to me in an honest but reassuring way allowing me to consider my options in a calm way.
