The whole procedure of my eye surgery with Dr. Hamid was like a visiting a good old friend! He has great senses of humor and is killing all doubts and fears you can have just with few short words and videos. The surgery time was two or three songs and after that I went out with my brand new eyes. I didn't felt in a hospital or in an operation even for a second. His professionalism is as enjoyable as his company. Thank you once again Doctor Hamid!!! George Kornazov

I underwent a technically successful cataract operation in just one eye with my local NHS hospital in 2014. Unfortunately this has, entirely predictably left me with one eye able to fully focus on objects at all distances, and another fixed at long distance, a situation I found both very uncomfortable, disorientating and depressing. In trying to resolve this situation I have met and consulted with quite a number of surgeons. Some who viewed the eye as a manifestation of a successful surgery and as such disregarded my experience as a patient, others seemed happy to offer me technically easier options that in hindsight I think would have left me in a worse sate. Sadly I only got to meet Mr Hammid after my NHS lens looked pretty well set in the eye, but what set him so far above the other people I consulted with was that he is both hugely patient focused as well as being very scholarly and on top of every line of research. I think he must have talked with me for well over an hour, he is the only consultant I have spoken with who left me feeling unhurried and truly listened too. I think this empathy and understanding is no small part of why Mr Hamid gets such exceptional results for his patients, unless you take the time to find out what a patient expects how can you meet their expectation? Mr Hamid is one of those rare people who has seemed to have developed his medical gifts to match his sensitivity and compassion. We are currently waiting for a lens we both think is suitable to become available, when it does I wouldn't consider asking any one other than Mr Hamid to perform my surgery.

Review of the treatment and aftercare provided by Dr. Amir Hamid. This is written following the experience of John and Marian Gray. Marian has struggled with her eyesight for some years, she found it difficult to read things like menus and relied on reading glasses which she disliked. We saw an article about the Symfony multifocal lens and surfed the net which revealed further information on it and the surgeon Mr. Hamid. Marian saw him in September 2015 and he confirmed that the lens would be suitable, also that Marian was just about legal to drive. Within a month both her eyes had the Symfony lenses installed and her vision at all distances was near to perfect; the glasses were now obsolete . Now a year later on and the glasses are a distant memory. I also was having trouble with my eyesight, in my case my distance vision was only just up to driving standard and I had a cataract in my right eye.. I consulted Mr. Hamid and asked if I could have the Symfony lens in my right eye and achieve the same result as Marian. Mr. Hamid advised me that as in 1996 I had undergone a procedure known as RK the outcome from such an implant could not be certain and that a monofocal with the provision for a piggy back second lens would provide more chance of a good outcome. This procedure did indeed need the second lens and my vision is now improved by several lines on the chart I now need some attention on my left eye and will be consulting with Mr. Hamid shortly. .At no time did we feel under pressure to proceed and all procedure and after care visits were strange to say a not unpleasant experience.

Explanation

Having worn glasses from four years old and contact lenses from sixteen I decided at 57 to invest in corrective surgery. I was undecided on laser or lens replacement so arranged a consultation with Mr Hamid. After some measurements were taken he explained the choices available to me and the reasons for his recommendation. He gave me options and went through the advantages and disadvantages of each, leading me to decide on RLE with the Symfony Toric lens. The actual lens replacement procedure was painless and very quick, taking less than 15 minutes and within an hour or so was out having dinner in a restaurant. Even through the plastic eye cover I could begin to see that my vision was so much better than before the procedure. I was back at work after the weekend and had no after effects. The second eye was fixed two weeks later with the same outcome and I now have excellent close, medium and distance vision without any other correction. As I spend a lot of time on the PC medium distance is very important and not only is it excellent but I no longer suffer from the dry eyes I was getting with contact lenses. It took a while to get used to waking up in the morning and being able to focus, and swimming in the sea without worrying about contact lenses was another plus. As I wore gas permeable lenses to maximise vision quality with my astigmatism I suffered particularly from dust, and not having to worry about that on a windy day is a big bonus. Mr Hamid always spent time explaining details and never appeared to rush a consultation. I felt relaxed and totally at ease in his care and would thoroughly recommend him and his practice.
