Professor Follows is very approachable and so easy to talk to which is invaluable with a long term illness. I have always felt in good hands and trust his decision filling me with confidence that my treatment is the best way forward.

My sister and I have known Doctor George Follows for a little over a year now, during the treatment of our dad. Due to the complex nature of our dads condition and an additional health complication requiring emergency intervention George was with us every step of the way. Not only does George explain every detail in ‘normal’ language but he is able to instil a sense of calm into everything, including the ability to put you at ease in even the most stressful situation. Professor George Follows is a warm, friendly and caring person. He always takes the time to explain the issues so that I understand clearly the diagnosis, future risks and how to ensure I remain vigilant and watch for possible symptoms in order to re-act early in the event of a relapse.

I was diagnosed with CLL some fifteen years ago and since then I have been a patient of Professor George Follows. I have found him to be caring and concerned, as well as having a profound understanding of this condition. I have a number of other conditions, mostly related to growing older. I have found him very helpful in dealing with these non-blood-related illnesses, which extend beyond the boundaries of his speciality; he has given me valuable advice on dealing with these, and he is in my experience a doctor whose approach to his patients is genuinely holistic. Dr Follows is one of the best in his field, needless to say. But he is also very caring. During consultations, he listened to me every time, took everything seriously, and followed up on symptoms afterwards. He's very accessible and responds to emails. I really felt I was in good hands during my treatment. My GP who knows him professional also speaks highly of him, which I found very reassuring.

Professor Follows has given me very calm and very clear explanations of both my illness and my treatment options. Also, he has responded very quickly to the numerous questions that I have asked which has been very comforting during this stressful period.

I have been a patient of Professor Follows for 5 years and throughout that period he has been excellent at explaining the science behind my CLL in a way that is easily understood by someone who does not have a medical background. He has also kept me abreast of the latest treatments and when it came to the time I needed to start treatment he took great care to make sure that I understood the pros and cons of the treatment options that were available to me.

Professor Follows appears to be pre-eminent in the field of leukaemia treatment. At the same time he has a natural, inclusive and sympathetic approach when consulting with his patient. My personal feeling is that I couldn't have better treatment for my CLL than I am receiving from him.
