Explanation

I have been under Dr halfpenny over 2.5 years and he has been very helpful with my Ehlers Danlos hypermobility condition and regardless of being a little late for his appointments he has been very understanding and open to any other option treatment Which I had abroad for stem cell treatment in the USA which was not at the time available in the U.K. or PRP . Dr Halfpenny has a great bedside manner and will only do injections if necessary and is very happy to discuss any case studies like myself with other doctors and has helped me on many occasions with trigger point injections Botox cortisone in certain parts of my back shoulders hamstrings and has done a few PRP . Dr halfpenny also knows the right team of Pysioththerapist and is willing to speak or email my concerns .

A careful listener, kind, never in a hurry, seeking to find the best route to recovery for the patient; highly skilled in his own field yet willing to draw on other experts' skills to enhance his treatment plans in a difficult case like mine rather than settle for a second-rate treatment plan. Open to working with alternative therapies (acupuncture, kinesiology, physio) and actively seeks these practitioners' input, incorporates this into the treatment plan and provides feedback to them creating a productive team environment which enables pain relief measures to carry on working as effectively as possible between appointments.

After six months of problems with my Achilles’ tendon it was suggested to me to try the ACP injections. It was a straightforward process which enabled the tendon to repair successfully. Highly recommend this treatment for anyone suffering. Dr Deane Halfpenny is both incredibly professional and friendly and provides world class treatment in a friendly environment with the emphasis always on patient wellbeing.

Explanation

I was a little pessimistic at first whether it was worth the cost of £1,500.00 for the ACP injections treatment (3no) for something that may not work i.e. 70% success rate particularly if it is something that is being paid yourself without medical insurance. However, I contacted my medical insurer and they eventually conceded and paid for the treatment. Prior to the treatment Deane Halfpenny explained the whole process as part of the initial consultation. On each occasion Dr Deane Halfpenny explained the status after each injection based on the statistics at that stage. After the first injection there appeared to be no real change in my symptoms. After the second injection there was improvement of about 30%. After the final injection there was improvement of about 85%. I still experience a little soreness in the Achilles but nowhere near he symptoms that I originally had. I am now on the physiotherapy road and starting to load the Achilles after 20 months of not being able to do any running or exercise and pain free when walking. Hopefully in time and following continuous loading I will be back jogging soon. Despite my pessimistic view originally I have greatly appreciated and recognised the benefits that ACP injections have helped my condition and would recommend that despite the cost in my situation this has been worth it(albeit I was lucky to have had this covered by BUPA. Something they do not normally cover - unless you moan about it!). Whilst still on the expensive side and the success rate only circa 70% the normal person may not want to part with their hard earnt money for something where the success rate is not particularly that high. However, with more treatment carried out i'm sure the success rates will increase. Mine was circa 85% post injections and continuing to improve after this with physiotherapy, but the real test will be when I can start jogging again. Therefore, if the stats are more in line with which I have benefited from then it is a stronger argument to part with the money. All the best with your treatment and hopefully yours will be as successful as mine

He has been my consultant in charge of my care since 2014 for CRPS. He always goes out of his way to support me and ensure my crps is controlled as best it can be. Importantly he always listens to my point of view and encorporates this into my treatment plans.
