All precautions to ensure the hospital was COVID secure was evident from start to finish. All the staff members I encountered were friendly and helpful.

Excellent service and attention to detail from initial consultation to finalisation of treatment, in these uncertain times the Winfield Hospital made me feel comfortable and safe during my brief stay with them. Very good thank you.

I received excellent treatment at The Winfield. All the staff were extremely caring and I felt I was in very good hands. The physio team in particular, were extremely efficient and professional. I would like to particularly mention my physio at The Winfield, Carys, who suggested I take part in a trial of Denton Physio Technology, and mentored me through the six weeks in which I used the sensor system. I would recommend it wholeheartedly. As app was set up on my ipad and sensors are worn above and below the operated knee when doing the knee exercises. It is possible to see how the degree of bend improves day by day and the physio is able to regularly tweak the exercises and number of repetitions depending on how fast progress is made. I achieved a 120 degree bend within a few weeks and can straighten and completely lock my knee. I was cycling and doing a five mile coastal walk within ten weeks of my operation. This is a far better result than I ever achieved with my right knee, which was replaced 15 years earlier.

I felt looked after, nurses checked on me very regularly, all procedures, eg blood tests, blood pressure, medication were all done throughout the day and followed up when necessary. Everyone was friendly, the catering staff were helpful and food was very good. I received regular ice for my knee and the staff ensured that the automatic foot movement machine was used through the nights to help prevent blood clots. Overall a good hospital experience.

I was welcomed by a smiling receptionist and immediately whisked off to see my consultant. Very smooth.

The hospital it’s self is very well equipped, clean and just a great environment for any health care needs. However my experience was dampened by 2 key things: 1 - the nurse lead pre-operation clinic gave me none of the operation prep information I was expecting. Staying over night after my operation/how long before I would be able to go home/ what to bring with me. Instead I was told this information would be given at my Covid test 3 days prior to my surgery. The nurse that conducted the Covid test couldn’t advise me on these things as she wasn’t even aware what surgery I was under going! 2 - most of my nurses post operation were super friendly and helpful but I had one nurse at night that was rude when I pressed my bell to have a urine bottle removed (sighing and disapproving muttering under their breath). Only one person out of many but a lasting bad memory unfortunately. The post surgery physio has been fantastic, really being looked after with a smile and a laugh whilst we go. Overall I probably would recommend the hospital but go with specific questions in mind else the info probably won’t be given freely.
