I had a video meeting and only went in for a plaster which was a Skelton team so not sure I can really comment on the hospital

We were very impressed at the Wellington Hospital. Their staff kind knowledgeable and always there.

My doctor was fantastic, my nurse was dreadful. I'm glad I'm getting to write this review, because I felt the need to give 5 stars on the last page, as I feared any less would reflect poorly on the wrong person (ie Mr Warren) however the entire experience asa a whole fell far short of his service. Again he was terrific, but I nearly left before my surgery because of the hospital's disorganisation and my nurse's personal ignorance and ostensible complete and utter incompetence. Both in terms of putting her patient at ease or competently administering care/ tests. FYI I came in quite calm and she managed to turn that around over the course of about half an hour in which she asked questions and ran tests that had already been asked of and run on me by her colleague only one day prior. Many of the answers she didn't understand, she was almost totally incapable of even taking my blood pressure (an already disturbing verity, made worse by the fact that it was an automatic machine that she was using!) and wasn't familiar with the word "cannula" when I mentioned it. She couldn't even bluff it either as she was unable to work out what I was talking about even though the conversation related to taking blood and administering anaesthetic! Also the food was dreadful. It's a hospital, not a Michelin starred restaurant, I do understand that, but it charges at least as much for its meals, so there ought to be some semblance of consideration and/or effort from the kitchen. Particularly as post op patients are literally a captive audience - you HAVE to eat something before you are allowed to leave. Next time I'll bring a packed lunch!

Generally, the medical and nursing experience dealing with after surgery bleeding, and putting up drips etc. was good. However, there were other matters. I ran out of water; the jug was taken away and not replaced for several hours despite my requests. I was only in hospital for one night, but very late at night the curtains had not been closed and I was not shown how to turn off the lights until at last I was able to receive a visit from a night nurse. Because I was linked to a monitor, I couldn't wash myself or do my teeth. No nurse came to help me. My experience in this respect of a NHS hospital was far far better. I didn't complain because the surgery by the cardiologist and team was so good that this was more important to me.

For the first and more urgent visit I ha dto wait more than 30 min. For the rest everything worked perfectly.
