As an outpatient, I always appreciate the respect and friendliness that the staff show patients. The overall atmosphere is one of professionalism and calm. The fact that the building is attractive and situated in pleasant parkland also adds to the atmosphere of serenity which certainly helps the healing process. I have found all sessions and consultations incredibly helpful and the lunchtime meals are of a very high standard. Overall, I think the Priory is a place where I feel I can get better, and not a place where I feel I am being punished for being ill.

One or more of the categories are difficult to score because I did not visit the hospital, the appointment was conducted via Zoom video call. However, all the people i dealt with including the doctor were efficient, friendly and very professional.

My Consultant was amazing Dr Ina Nnatu and the health care ladies were all very friendly and helpful. I just felt things should be explained better before and on the day you arrive. I felt very lost when I arrived had never been any were like it before and cried a lot due to how I was feeling. It was the other patients who comforted me and told me I would be ok. I felt the front reception of the main building was not very welcoming considering were I was.The nurse who took me through asked me to fill out lots of paper work and didn't explain much else. I had a man, who was working on reception in the ward on the night shift knock on my door at 10.30pm on his own and asked if he could come in, I said no so he stood at my door and started to tell me a load of stuff which I should of been told my nurse in the day. The food was ok staff working in the canteen were really nice. There is a lot of CPT therapy and a lot of the therapy is done at the same time so you have to choose between them. There is not a lot to do at the weekends. I think you should be given times that you can see your consult, key person and doctor so you are not waiting around and worrying if your miss them. You should also see your therapist/key worker the day you arrive so you can start the therapy the next day, as they choose which therapy you should do. I arrived at 10am on a Thursday and was told I couldn't see a therapist till the following afternoon, so I would of missed out on all that therapy . I asked if it was possible to see someone sooner which they did arrange for the afternoon. I was lucky to be given Emily who was really lovely but you only see them once a week, which I think is not enough. I think more exercise should be put in to the program especially at weekends. During the week they do yoga at the end of the day but that is it. Exercise is so important for mental health. I also think there should be more mindfulness classes as there is only one a week. It was nice to meet other patients and I was lucky to meet a couple who were really nice.

I was a patient nine years ago and the service and care were exemplary. I received excellent, resolute treatment. My observations since are that the ATP fee is increasing and the service diminishing. Patients don't get access to physical meetings, the zoom ones are selective and not representative of fellowships, the staff are overworked and underpaid, it's difficult to get full-time staff and much-needed continuity, the administration (joining/leaving) has gone down hill, Sunday GT was withdrawn due to staffing issues, peer support continues only due to it being a self-managing, motivation and passionate group of people. My comments are made as current peer supporter with regular contact with the Priory and patients (SR.)
