Mr Waqas Butt

Mr Waqas Butt is a consultant General, Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgeon based in Dublin, Ireland. He specialises in minimally invasive techniques, which can aid faster recovery post-operatively and promote long term wellbeing. His clinical approach is compassionate, highly personalised and supportive, and he values helping his patients to make decisions regarding their treatment that feel right for them.

Following graduating from King Edward Medical University in 2010, Mr Butt completed training in Ireland in Upper GI surgery, as well as a fellowship in Bariatric Surgery and minimally invasive metabolic surgery in England. His specialist interests include various types of bariatric surgery, anti-reflux surgery, hernia repair, surgery for swallowing issues, feeding access insertion, gallbladder surgery, and endoscopy. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland as well as holding the European Board of Surgery Qualification in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery. 

Mr Butt is passionate about patient safety and he is a member of the Irish and British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Societies, as well as the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity. This allows him to stay up to date with the latest treatments and evidence in his area of expertise. Mr Butt is also an enthusiastic clinical teacher, and he regularly provides mentoring and teaching to future surgeons.
