Dr. Sarah Gilmore

Dr Sarah Gilmore is a Consultant Medical Ophthalmologist practising in Dublin and Wicklow. She is registered on the Specialist Register of the Medical Council of Ireland and is a member of the Irish College of Ophthalmologists. She is a Consultant at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and a key member of the clinical team at Medical Optics. In addition, she provides clinical leadership for the Primary Eye Care Team within Community Healthcare East (CHO6), supporting the development of integrated eye care pathways that strengthen collaboration between community optometry, primary care, and hospital ophthalmology services.

With a specialist interest in medical retina, Dr Gilmore has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating chronic retinal diseases. She is highly skilled in administering intravitreal injections for patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and plays an active role in training ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals in these specialised procedures, helping to maintain high standards of clinical practice and patient safety.

Her clinical practice covers a broad range of general ophthalmology, using advanced retinal imaging and other diagnostic technologies to monitor and manage diabetic eye disease and complex retinal conditions. Committed to advancing ophthalmic education, Dr Gilmore regularly contributes to the Irish College of Ophthalmologists National Education Series webinars, supporting the ongoing professional development of colleagues and promoting excellence in eye care across Ireland.
