Paul is a best in class physio. Extremely knowledgeable, informed, calculated, person-focused, and experienced. I went to Paul having suffered a severe Hamstring Tendon Tear. With my confidence rocked and wondering would I get back to playing GAA again, Paul said he would get me back. It was easy to trust Paul’s process as he measures progress with state of the art technology at each stage of the recovery process. Furthermore, his experience in High Performance sports settings and his approach based off best practices and research had me believing fully in every step of the recovery. It was easy to see the progress from step-to-step, and in terms of the psychological aspect of the rehab he played a huge role by simply breaking each milestone down step-by-step. Couldn’t recommend Paul enough, he is an excellent practitioner, and owe him greatly for being back on the pitch.

I was referred to Paul from my GP after a suspected Achilles tendon issue popped up, after return to play to football after rehabbing a long term ankle ligament injury. I had Achilles tendinopothy in both ankles and it was at the stage where training and matches were the least of the problems - I was waking up in the morning in pain from it. Paul was pragmatic from the get go - he diagnosed it immediately, explained the injury, but also understood I was mid season with some games coming up so focusing solely on rehab would be a challenge. So he put a plan in place together, giving me exercises and regular check ups, that enabled me to get to a stage where I could still play some minutes while continuing my rehab. I get a recurrence of it every now and then (typically when my load suddenly increases eg pre season) and Paul gets me in asap to review and give me a plan to manage things. If I had seen a different doctor at the GP that day, I never would have been referred on and I’d probably still be bouncing around physios trying to get the matter resolved.

Having first come to Dr. Paul Kirwan, i struggled greatly with chronic ankle sprains and instability. Having tried so many things, even ankle surgery without success, i was extremely close to quitting football. A visit with Dr. Kirwan was my last resort. From the start i noticed how much more professional Dr. Kirwan was in comparison to other physiotherapists i had previously visited. That alone gave me hope that i may overcome my ankle problems once and for good. A year and a half later, i still do the same excercises, and am yet to suffer a serious ankle sprain and hopefully that will not change. I know the word genius is overused in today’s world, but when i say Dr. Kirwan is a genius, i mean it.

As a 44-year-old woman, I’d been dealing with persistent pain in my hip for around 18 months, and it had gradually been getting worse. I was so relieved to find Paul. He gave me a simple exercise programme using a resistance band that took just six minutes a day. The exercises were easy to fit into my routine, and within a few weeks I noticed a real improvement. I now only do them every other day to maintain the progress. I’m absolutely delighted with the results and the difference they’ve made. I would highly recommend Paul to anyone looking for effective, practical tendon treatment.

Had chronic bilateral Achilles tendinitis for 6 years. Was unable to run due to pain and symptoms would even flare after long walks, affecting my quality of life. Tried lots of different treatments including injections, shockwave ultrasound and S and C rehab protocols with little effect. Paul made a massive improvement in my symptoms with insoles and a 3 times a week rehab protocol involving weights and some plyometrics. Within 5 months, I was back running and doing explosive exercise pain free after living with the tendonitis for years. Highly recommend. A tendonitis expert..

Before seeing Paul, I had been struggling with patellar tendinopathy for over 18 months with little success after seeing multiple therapists. Paul’s initial consultation was thorough and well explained. The rehabilitation program I have been using with Paul is already seeing improvements in half the time expected. Would strongly recommend for others looking for a tendinopathy expert.
