Mr Patrick Hayes

Mr. Pat Hayes is a highly experienced Cataract & Medical Retinal Specialist practising at IOES Waterford. With several decades of experience, Mr. Hayes has demonstrated commitment to excellence in eye care.

Mr. Hayes obtained his primary degree from NUI University College Dublin in 1973 and furthered his studies at the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland. He honed his knowledge and skills through various postgraduate positions, including a stint at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, alongside multiple roles in Ireland. He is a distinguished member of the Irish College of Ophthalmologists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Passionate about providing dedicated care to all patients, Mr. Hayes specialises in a wide range of complex and uncommon eye diseases. His expertise encompasses procedures such as Cataract surgery (micro-incision implant surgery), Glaucoma treatment and surgery, and Medical retina interventions for conditions like macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal vein occlusion, and retinal holes, including the use of argon laser and intravitreal injections. He also performs Eyelid plastic surgery for conditions like tumours and cysts, utilising full investigative and diagnostic equipment such as fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography, and ocular a-scan ultrasound.
