Ms Oonagh Ryan

Ms Oonagh Ryan is a registered psychotherapist with the Irish Council for Psychotherapy, bringing over 20 years of experience working with families across educational and community settings. She began her career as a secondary school teacher, specialising in supporting neurodiverse students with special educational needs before retraining as a Family Therapist.

Oonagh has extensive expertise working with adolescents and families facing complex behavioural, emotional, and educational challenges. She has designed and delivered programs aimed at strengthening family relationships, promoting stability, and fostering healthier family dynamics through collaborative strategies.

Since 2005 Oonagh has been a trained practitioner of Restorative Practice and Mediation, applying these approaches internationally in Ireland, Australia, and the US to help families resolve conflict and build cohesion. She has also implemented Restorative Justice programs in schools, integrating anti-bullying initiatives that develop empathy, resilience, and emotional intelligence among young people.

An advanced-level practitioner of Non-Violent Resistance (NVR), Oonagh supports families dealing with aggressive or violent behaviours and co-facilitates Parents Plus programs to assist parents navigating teenage challenges. She also specialises in supporting expatriate and migrant families adjusting to new environments, drawing on her own experiences living abroad.
