Dr. Mikhail Hernandez

Dr Mikhail Hernandez Diaz is a Specialist Ophthalmologist with extensive experience in corneal disease, cataract surgery, and refractive eye surgery. He has developed particular expertise in complex corneal diagnosis and surgical management, including both routine and advanced ophthalmic procedures.

He graduated in medicine in 2011 from a Spanish university, earning his medical degree with Magna Cum Laude distinction. Following graduation, he developed a strong interest in ophthalmology and went on to complete specialist training in the field, becoming a Specialist Doctor in Ophthalmology in 2017. Early in his career, he was awarded a scholarship from the Congress of the Valencian Society of Ophthalmology in recognition of his academic and clinical promise.

Mr Hernandez Diaz has undertaken advanced ophthalmology training with a focus on corneal disease, including keratoconus, pterygium, and corneal transplantation. He is experienced in the use of advanced surgical technologies such as femtosecond and excimer laser systems, and has performed more than 4,000 cataract surgeries alongside a wide range of refractive intraocular lens procedures.

He has also worked as an ophthalmologist in both Spain and Southern Ireland, gaining broad international clinical experience. His surgical expertise includes corneal transplantation and other complex anterior segment procedures.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Hernandez is active in teaching and academic medicine. He regularly lectures and trains ophthalmology residents and medical students across Europe, and has contributed to multiple publications in books, journals, and clinical studies. He also attends and presents at international ophthalmology conferences to remain current with advances in refractive and corneal surgery.
