Ms Luba O’Neill is a Principal Therapist currently practising within Wicklow and Kildare Mental Health Services. She holds a B.A. in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, along with additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Luba also holds an M.A. in Media and Journalism, bringing a unique depth of communication and understanding to her therapeutic work.
After two decades in the multinational industry, Luba chose to follow her long-held ambition of working directly with people to support their emotional wellbeing. Her approach is theoretically integrative yet grounded in simplicity, built on the belief that every individual possesses the inner resources to overcome life’s challenges. Luba provides a compassionate, non-judgemental space where clients can safely explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
Her experience includes work with adults, parents, and young people across youth services and counselling centres in Kildare and Dublin. She supports clients facing a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, abuse, and bereavement. Specialising in short-term, solution-focused therapy, Luba helps clients set achievable goals, reframe limiting thought patterns, and regain a sense of clarity and control in their lives.

I’ve been working with Luba for many years now, and truthfully, she has been a strong source of strength in my life. I first came to her carrying huge grief after losing my pets — a kind of grief that not everyone understands, and something previous therapists hadn’t really been able to hold space for. From our very first session, Luba met me with such warmth and kindness that I immediately felt safe. She honoured my animals, my love for them, and the place they still hold in my heart. Even now, she continues to acknowledge them and the role they play in my healing, which means the world to me. Life hasn’t exactly been gentle with me, and I’ve gone through more ups and downs than most. Through all of it, Luba has stayed steady beside me. Her sessions feel very intentional; she gives me the space to be fully vulnerable, to say what I need to say without interruption, and then gently helps guide things in whatever direction feels most supportive for me. I’ve never once felt judged or rushed - just genuinely supported. I’m someone who needs to understand how things work, the links between trauma, the brain, behaviour, coping patterns. Whenever I ask about it, Luba meets me there. She explains things in a way that helps me make sense of my story, and more importantly, helps me understand that so much of how I learned to cope growing up wasn’t my fault. That validation has been incredibly healing. When I feel ready, she also helps me turn insight into action, offering practical, gentle, solution-focused steps I can actually bring into my life. It never feels forced - just su...

Luba is a compassionate and knowledgeable Psychotherapist and used all her skills to guide, support and guide me through my own symptoms and challenges. This work has been extremely empowering for me.
Luba made me feel comfortable & at easy from the very first session. She helped me make sense of my starter blocks & by mid way I was able to handle things better. I have a plan for going forward & know I am able to handle things better
Luba is an excellent therapist. What stood out to me the most is how much she listened to everything I said. With Luba you are in a safe place. The sessions were structured and prepared and Luba wasn’t afraid to give her professional opinion which for m was important. it’s clear Luba is passionate about what she does and she cared for our sessions. So
Luba has tremendous knowledge, experience and insight as a therapist. From our first online meeting she was able to identify both my immediate physical state - exhausted and dysregulated - as well as the relationship patterns that we needed to work on together. Over the course of just six sessions, she helped steer me back towards daily self-care practices and accompanied me through some deep emotional work. I feel hugely grateful to have met Luba at this pivotal point in my life.
Over the past 3 years Luba has become to know me quite well; and gives me insight and skill to help me grow. Last session was about how I have grown and becoming the better person of my self 3 years ago
Luba is a compassionate, professional and expert counsellor who was a pleasure to work with. Her methods are scientific and research based yet she is intuitive and humanistic in her approach also. I highly recommend!
I undertook sessions with Luba for just under three years and continue still on an adhoc basis. Luba has always been incredibly professional, compassionate, and helpful. I have always walked away from a session with an immediate strategy to help myself and a long term plan.
Luba has been beyond helpful to get me through difficult times over the years. Giving me the tools to cope on a day to day basis. Help me understand how my mind works and helped me dealing with childhood trauma over the years. I always felt like I could reach out. Luba would do her best to accommodate me when I needed someone to listen. She is professional, hard working, compassionate and kind. I couldn't recommend Luba enough as a therapist. I am very grateful to know Luba and thankful for all that she has done for me.
Luba has been the most wonderful therapist to me after having a difficult time post partum. Luba listened and offered helpful advice throughout our meetings. She is caring, compassionate and a wonderful listener. Luba helped me navigate this very difficult time in my life and I’m happy to say I’m doing much better now thanks to her
