Prof. Kilian Walsh

Professor Kilian Walsh is an experienced Consultant Urologist practising at University Hospital Galway and Bon Secours Hospital Galway, where he has worked since 2007. His clinical practice covers bladder dysfunction, kidney and bladder cancer, female incontinence and minimally invasive treatment for prostate disease. He also has specialist expertise in reconstructive urology.

Professor Walsh graduated from University College Dublin and completed his Basic Surgical Training in Dublin before moving to London in 1995 for Higher Surgical Training in Urology. During this period, he completed an MSc thesis in prostate cancer detection and was awarded Specialist Registration in Urological Surgery. In 2002, he undertook a fellowship in Urological Reconstruction at the University of California, Davis, focusing on complex reconstructive urology, female urology and urodynamics.

Following his fellowship, Professor Walsh returned to the UK and held a Consultant appointment at King's College Hospital. He also practised at the Lister Hospital Chelsea between 2002 and 2007 before establishing his practice in Galway.

His research interests include benign prostatic hyperplasia surgery, prostate cancer and urological reconstruction, areas in which he has been widely published.
