About Mr James Walsh

Mr James Walsh is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in adult reconstructive foot and ankle surgery as well as sports foot and ankle injuries. He provides comprehensive surgical and non-surgical management for a wide range of lower limb conditions, degenerative diseases, sports-related trauma, and complex deformities.

Mr Walsh graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in 2001. After completing basic surgical training in Dublin, he earned a Master of Surgery (MCh) degree from University College Dublin in 2008. He completed higher surgical training on the Irish Higher Surgical Training Programme in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, achieving Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Tr&Orth) in 2011. To further refine his expertise, Mr Walsh undertook an intensive 1-year subspecialty fellowship on the Sydney Foot and Ankle Fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital in Australia (2012), focusing on degenerative disease, sports injuries, complex trauma, and advanced arthroscopic techniques. He subsequently completed clinical attachments at the Kantonsspital Hospital in Liestal, Switzerland (specialising in ankle and distal tibial surgery) and the Amsterdam Medical Centre, Netherlands (specialising in arthroscopic ankle surgery).

He holds consultant appointments at the Sports Surgery Clinic (Santry), Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital, and Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. Mr Walsh is an active member of both the Irish Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (IOFAS) and the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS).
