About Jackie Ahern

Hello👋

13 years experience. I started working as a Counsellor in 2005, finished my MA in 2014 and am returning after 8 years.

I'm currently redoing some hours as a pre-accredited psychotherapist, due to a break working in the area since 2018.

New to Counselling?

If you're new to counselling 10 sessions is recommended to begin with. Usually starting with gentle Rogerian style until we get to know each other and trust builds. Then different therapy schools can be explored.

PREVIOUSLY Attended Counselling?

RULER Approach Session: I do a one process session. It focuses on fully recognising emotions, understanding them &, when/where/why they've previously arisen, labelling them, empathy to self and regulating by reframing and forgiving.

Developed under Liam McGraths excellent supervision based on Yale University RULER(Recognising, Understanding, Labelling, Empathy, Regulating) approach to emotional intelligence.

2017 I represented Ireland speaking about Wellbeing and how to develop it at the USA American Teacher Educator conference.

Alternative Therapy Interests: I'm a fan of Dr Alberto Villoldo's energy medicine and psychology mix. He has a website called The Four Winds.
