Dr Fiona Hand

Ms Fiona Hand is a Consultant Hepatobiliary (HPB) and Transplant Surgeon at St Vincent's Private Hospital, Dublin, where she treats the full range of general surgical conditions alongside complex liver and pancreatic disease.

Her practice covers hernia repair, gallstone disease and gallbladder surgery, and both benign and cancerous conditions of the liver and pancreas. She has a particular interest in minimally invasive and robotic approaches, which can mean smaller incisions and a faster return to normal life for suitable patients.

Ms Hand trained in general surgery in Ireland, completing her training in 2019, and was awarded an MD from Trinity College Dublin for research in liver immunology. She then undertook fellowship training in HPB and liver transplant surgery at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, followed by robotic HPB fellowships at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London and NorthShore Hospital in Chicago, and a further fellowship in pancreas transplantation at Oxford University Hospitals.

She joined St Vincent's Healthcare Group in 2022 and is the first woman appointed as a consultant HPB, liver and pancreas transplant surgeon in Ireland. She is also Clinical Lead for the National Pancreas Transplant Service.
