Mr Fergus Gaffey

Mr Fergus Gaffey is a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with more than six years of experience working across private practice, clinical services and educational settings. He holds a Clinical Master’s Degree and a Higher Diploma in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and has extensive experience supporting adults, children, adolescents, teenagers and families with a broad range of emotional and psychological difficulties.

Throughout his career, Fergus has worked in a variety of therapeutic and educational environments, including general psychotherapy services, schools, university support services and a specialist centre for gender identity. His clinical work has involved supporting individuals experiencing depression, anxiety and the everyday challenges that can affect emotional wellbeing, relationships and personal development.

Fergus has a particular interest in somatic symptoms in children and adolescents, exploring the connection between emotional distress and physical symptoms within a thoughtful and compassionate therapeutic framework. He works with both adults and young people across a wide spectrum of presentations and is committed to creating a safe, respectful and non-judgemental space where clients feel supported in exploring their experiences.

His approach is grounded in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, with a focus on understanding the deeper emotional patterns and unconscious processes that may influence thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Fergus values the importance of building strong therapeutic relationships based on trust, empathy and collaboration.

He is a fully accredited member of the Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Ireland and the Irish Council for Psychotherapy.
