Dr. Desislava Andreeva

Dr Desislava Andreeva is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with extensive international experience across both public and private healthcare systems. Having spent her formative years in Canada, she later moved to Bulgaria to earn her Doctor of Medicine from the Medical University of Sofia in 2013, before completing her intensive specialist surgical training in 2019 to achieve her Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in Surgical Ophthalmology. Following a consulting post in the United Kingdom, she relocated to Ireland in 2022 to practice alongside her brother, who is also an established specialist in the ophthalmic field.

Throughout her career, Dr Andreeva has developed a refined clinical focus on anterior segment surgery and the management of chronic ocular surface conditions, with particular recognition for her expertise in modern cataract surgery and complex dry eye disease. She brings a deeply patient-centred approach to her clinical practice, leveraging her international background and fluency in four languages to communicate effectively and connect compassionately with a diverse patient population. Outside of her clinical duties, she is a passionate artist who enjoys drawing and painting; she directly translates this refined artistic eye and steady manual dexterity into the meticulous visual precision required for delicate ocular surgery.
