Mr David Twomey

Mr David Twomey is an Addiction and Family Systems Counsellor with over 28 years of experience supporting individuals and families through the challenges of addiction and emotional recovery. His therapeutic approach is practical, evidence-based, and deeply compassionate, helping clients and their loved ones navigate change and build lasting emotional stability.

David specialises in the integration of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), providing clients with measurable tools to manage emotional crises, regulate distress, and challenge unhelpful thought patterns. His work also draws on the spiritual and relational principles of 12-Step recovery programmes, helping clients connect therapeutic skills such as acceptance, willingness, and accountability with meaningful personal growth.

A core part of David’s practice focuses on family healing and communication, supporting relatives of those affected by addiction to rebuild trust and foster understanding. He combines non-judgemental acceptance with compassionate challenge, empowering clients to take responsibility for behavioural change while maintaining self-compassion and hope.
