Mr Coman Wilkinson is a Psychotherapist based in Portlaoise, Co Laois & Limerick City, providing integrative counselling and psychotherapy services with a strong focus on trauma-informed care.

He has over 10 years of clinical practice and holds an MSc in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy (graduated 2018), alongside further specialist training in adolescent psychotherapy. His academic background also includes a Master’s-level qualification in Adolescent Psychotherapy completed through the University of Northampton in collaboration with Dublin-based training institutions, as well as additional studies through the Edward M. Kennedy Institute at Maynooth University.

His therapeutic approach is integrative, with a strong emphasis on developmental trauma, complex PTSD (CPTSD), early attachment experiences, and how these shape emotional regulation, relationships, and self-perception in adulthood. He works primarily from a relational and psychodynamic-informed perspective, focusing on building a stable, trusting therapeutic relationship as the foundation for psychological change.

Clinically, he supports adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, OCD, bereavement, relationship and family issues, self-esteem difficulties, dissociation, stress-related conditions, and trauma-related presentations. He also has experience working with LGBTQ+ clients and individuals facing identity, life transition, or emotional regulation challenges.

His practice in Empathy Counselling & Psychotherapy in Portlaoise & Limerick City Psychotherapy Services is structured around consistent weekly sessions. His approach prioritises a safe, non-judgemental space where clients can explore their experiences at a manageable pace, with a focus on long-term emotional integration and relational healing.

Im unsure if Im improving in certain areas. I would sometimes like more feed back or things that could help me progress on further in certain areas. Sometimes I feel like I bore Coman or he is distracted.

I had six sessions with Coman and talking with him made a really significant difference in how I managed an extremely difficult time in my life. A couple of years later l still feel the benefit and am so grateful for his guidance. I wouldn't hesitate to return to him if I was in need of clarity going forward.

Coman is an excellent practitioner he provides a safe secure environment that makes you feel at ease. He also provides tools to help you outside of the sessions.

I attended with Coman for a number of counselling sessions at a time when I was feeling a bit lost. I found Coman to be very kind, warm and welcoming and he provided an open space to discuss anything that was on my mind, which is relatively crammed at the best of times. During our sessions, Coman provided some wise words and a level of empathy that I still often think about today and carry with me. I am grateful to have come across Coman and wouldn't hesitate to recommend his services to anyone considering a professional listening ear and advice.
