Anne Higgins is a counsellor and psychotherapist based near Abbeyfeale, County Limerick, where she runs Feale Counselling Service. She works with adults aged 18 and over, providing a confidential and supportive therapeutic space to help clients explore emotional, psychological, and life challenges in a structured and non-judgemental setting.
Anne qualified in 2017 and holds a BSc (Hons) alongside a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. She is accredited with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).
Her approach is integrative, drawing on person-centred therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and broader humanistic methods, allowing her to tailor support to each client’s individual needs and circumstances.
Alongside her core psychotherapy practice, Anne incorporates a range of complementary approaches to support clients holistically.
She is a qualified Basic Systematic Kinesiologist and integrates body-based and energy-focused concepts into her work. She also has a Diploma in body healing coaching, which focuses on breathwork, movement, somatic awareness, and emotional regulation.
Anne has additional training in pain management techniques, exploring the relationship between physical symptoms and psychological factors, particularly in chronic pain conditions.
Her work also includes training in spiritual counselling skills, offering clients space to explore meaning, purpose, and personal belief systems in a non-denominational context.
Outside of her clinical practice, Anne produces a podcast titled “Talk Therapy with Anne Higgins,” available on Spotify, where she explores a range of topics related to mental health and emotional wellbeing.
She also hosts both online and in-person workshops, as well as delivering motivational talks focused on mental and emotional health. These are tailored for a variety of groups, including local schools, women’s groups, and men’s sheds.
In addition, Anne offers workbooks available through her website, designed to support those who may feel unsure about starting counselling, while also providing practical guidance for navigating everyday challenges and improving overall wellbeing.

"Imagine you're holding the hand of your younger self. That little version of you—maybe 4, maybe 9, maybe 12—maybe older - who was doing their best in a confusing world. Loving yourself now begins with learning how to take care of them.”"Ask: What did that child need but never received? Comfort? Encouragement? Protection? Permission to feel?”"That’s where you start. With small, steady acts of care. Not grand gestures—just tiny, daily whispers that say: 'You matter now. I’m here for you.'”_______

Sometimes healing doesn't look like journaling, drinking herbal tea, or doing yoga on a Sunday morning.Sometimes healing looks like distance. Like deleting a number. Like quietly letting go of that group chat that always left you feeling drained. And that’s okay. You’re not a bad person for outgrowing people. In fact, it’s one of the bravest and healthiest things we can do.Healing is deeply personal. It shifts your values, your energy, and your boundaries. And when that happens, not everyone can—o

"Sure isn’t therapy a bit much?"It's a question I hear regularly. Whether it’s during a casual chat over tea or from someone genuinely trying to weigh up their options, the cost of private counselling can feel like a hurdle — and I understand that.In an ideal world, access to mental health care would be available to everyone who needs it. But here in Ireland, like many parts of the HSE, we face long waiting lists, underfunded services, and very limited availability unless you’re in acute crisis.

I had a thought recently while out walking: once we come into possession of something, it’s almost as if its purpose has already begun. From the moment we receive it, it starts its journey toward serving us – and eventually, toward letting go. Clothes fade, food spoils, relationships evolve, and material things lose their shine. Even we, as human beings, are not permanent. We are simply passing through this world – here to experience, to learn, to grow, and to leave our mark.Life’s true purpose
