Dr. Tarnaris was thoughtful and goal orientated. Attention was given to how I felt about procedures and there was plenty of space for me to question and learn. Would highly recommend Dr. Tarnaris.
My most recent visit to see Dr Tarnaris was on the 16th of January, at the Mater Private Cherrywood clinic. I met Dr Tarnaris and the Nevro Spinal cord stimulator company representative. This was my first post op Stimulator implantation clinical appointment. However, Dr Tarnaris had twice previously brought me to his clinic to remove sutures and check the surgical site. I mention this to demonstrate that Dr Tarnaris is extremely diligent in his post op care, exceptionally so. This is very reassuring as a patient. During the clinic appointment Dr Tarnaris personally organised my X-Rays in the Radiology department. From my perspective as his patient this demonstrated Dr Tarnis' diligence and commitment to excellence. Dr Tarnaris explained with patience and in great detail the complexities of having a Spinal cord stimulator. I found his manner when decribing this process very reassuring. Dr Tarnaris is clearly very professional and an expert in his field. More than this though he is a very compassinate doctor who clearly wants the very best outcome for his patient's. Dr Tarnaris has made himself very accessible to any queries or corncerns I have had during this entire process. As a result of my experiences I would happily recommend Dr Tarnaris to any person considering under going a Spinal cord stimulator implantation. Yours, Damien Dowling.
Mr Tarnaris does an initial consultation with you, listening to the events leading up to injury and pain. He completed specialist xrays and MRI-s and he studied them in depth and explained his findings. He completed his own clinical assessments and took the time to explain his findings. He set out clear steps and guided me through this with clear expectations. Nerve block injections were administered initially and I was able to enjoy my wedding and honeymoon and have a glimpse again of what life was like before injury and the pain cycle setting in. To be able to give you a diagnosis, hope and treatment options are a massive part in one's recovery. To know you are in someones specialist care and that you are genuinely being cared for is huge. Mr Tarnaris didn't judge me, he had empathy, he listens, he avoids surgery by exploring all avenues first, he advocates for holistic therapies alongside the medical route, and he's open minded. Under his care and expertise, he completed a percutaneous spinal chord nerve stimulation procedure. He is taking a step by step approach with me in my treatment and giving me a better quality of life with less pain. I am forever grateful.
I attending to try to obtain relief from a chronic migraine that no neurologist could help me with. After being on medication for years and seeing no results, Mr. Tarnaris was able to relieve most of the pain and showed me how to manage the migraines on a daily basis.
My most recent visit with Mr. Tarnaris was in relation to a procedure which provided external electrical nerve stimulation for the purpose of pain management. The procedure itself was very similar to previous nerve block procedures. The process was explained well in advance and I was walked through each step as the procedure was conducted. Post procedure care was explained thoroughly to me and it was stressed how important it was to follow this. Following the procedure there was the expected discomfort for a few days. Approximately 2-3 weeks following the procedure I noticed a marked decrease in the level of pain I would typically have experienced on a day to day basis. As per Mr. Tarnaris ‘s instructions I remained on my prescribed pain relief x4 weeks after which time I began to reduce my medications week by week to the point where I am now off all prescribed pain medication. This procedure has given me a level of pain relief I have not experienced before through other routes. I cannot stress the relief of not being in constant pain. I am very aware the underlying physiological state of my cervical spine has not changed and thus I am still very mindful of how I perform tasks. I do feel my quality of life in relation to e.g. sleep is vastly improved. That alone has improved how I function daily. I have also been able to resume activities such as light gardening/ hiking. I cannot recommend this procedure more, and I am very grateful to Mr. Tarnaris for offering me the opportunity to trial it. I think it is a procedure that would be of great benefit to a vast number of ...
