About Heather Gillin - Psychotherapy

The practice, led by psychoanalytic psychotherapist Heather Gillin, provides a safe, confidential and compassionate space for individuals, couples, families, children and adolescents. With more than twenty years of diverse clinical experience and extensive academic training, the practice is grounded in psychoanalysis while integrating a wide range of therapeutic approaches to meet the unique needs of each client.

The focus of the practice is to support people facing challenges such as anxiety, stress, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, postnatal depression, eating disorders, loss and bereavement, relationship breakdowns, trauma integration, emotional regulation difficulties and ADHD. Particular attention is also given to women’s health, offering guidance for those navigating cancer treatment, hormonal changes and peri- to post-menopausal transitions.

The practice offers individual therapy, where clients can explore unconscious patterns, deepen self-awareness and address emotional challenges in a reflective and supportive environment. Family and child therapy is tailored to help children and adolescents manage issues such as anxiety, bullying, low self-esteem, bereavement or difficult behaviours, while also equipping parents with psycho-education and practical tools. Couples Therapy provides a structured space to work through conflicts, rebuild trust, improve communication and navigate major life transitions together.

Another area of specialisation within the practice is psychedelic preparation and integration. Clients who engage with plant medicine or altered states of consciousness through retreats, therapeutic settings or microdosing can access dedicated integration therapy. This service is rooted in psychoanalytic and trauma-informed practice, helping individuals prepare safely, process their experiences, and integrate insights into long-term, meaningful change. The work is carried out with a strong commitment to ethics and harm reduction, without providing or promoting substances.

With a foundation in psychoanalysis and guided by a deep respect for each client’s unique journey, the practice is dedicated to fostering growth, resilience and transformation. Whether working with individuals, couples, families or young people, the aim is always to provide a professional and supportive environment where lasting change can take place.

Heather supported me during a difficult period of my life but one in which I grew a lot. She is a very skilled psychotherapist and compassionate person and I found sessions with her very helpful. I’m much stronger now because of the processing of trauma and healing that she helped me to do.

My session with Heather has helped significantly in facilitating my journey of self-exploration, self-forgiveness and self-acceptance after an extensive period of turbulence and trauma in my closest relationship, which Heather has guided me through every step of the way with the utmost compassion, intuition and professionalism.

Heather is excellent in her field. I was a little apprehensive to trying psychedelic integration but having found Heather I would now highly recommend her services if you want a professional, safe, welcoming and meaningful journey.

Excellent experience. I have been attending therapy with Heather for several years, during which she has consistently been kind, accommodating, approachable, and deeply supportive. Before working with Heather, I had attended therapy elsewhere, which I often found anxiety-provoking and constraining. While some level of anxiety is a natural part of the therapeutic process, I believe it should never feel overwhelming. Transitioning to therapy with Heather was one of the best decisions I have made, and I am truly grateful for the safe, compassionate space she provides. Thank you, Heather, for your kindness, understanding, and support throughout these years.

Heather has helped me enormously to understand my trauma responses and recognise unhealthy patterns in my relationships. She guided me with such care that every insight felt like my own discovery — never forced, never judged. Her approach is both professional and genuinely kind, and she radiates such positive, calming energy. I’m very grateful for the work we’ve done together.

Heather is a gifted psychotherapist. She has wide ranging knowledge and experience which I found to be incredibly helpful in my journey. She has a wonderful grounding energy that made navigating difficult topics feel manageable. Working with her over a period of a few years allowed me to explore areas of the unconscious, identify patterns as well as finding solutions to present day stressors. My experience with her has been entirely positive and highly beneficial.

Heather s amazing at holding space in our sessions and creating a judgement free and safe environment, where I feel comfortable opening up and sharing. She has a great way to help me explore my thoughts and revisit experiences while providing valuable insight and connecting the dots for me to understand myself better.

I started going to Heather about a year or so ago after experiencing some very difficult situations in life. Heather has helped me to identify patterns of behaviour, or responses in my life and their root cause. This has allowed me to address issues and therefore live happier. Heather has always been ethical, respectful and professional to me and during our sessions, which has helped me to build trust in the therapeutic relationship. This is something I really value as other therapists I went to previously had broken my trust. Heather holds a space, a safe space where I can talk and process what I am feeling and why. Heather helps me understand situations or things I am feeling, clearly and accurately. She has provided numerous resources such as mediation techniques, links to various resources and videos and also provided practical ideas of things I can do for myself, all have been very beneficial.
