From my initial consultation, it struck me how professional yet friendly, Mr Lewis was. His prognosis and subsequent suggested treatment was clear, precise and as it later transpired, entirely accurate. He didn't over-explain, nor did he patronise; backing-up every judgement or decision he made with reasons why, yet at the same time, consoling me in a caring and attentive bedside manner. Thanks to this, I had no anxieties about the forth-coming procedure. That was the pattern in the three meetings I had with him; caring, gentle yet not sugar-coated, prognoses and in the surgery itself, utterly professional with exemplary standards of care, hygiene and cognisance of patient needs. Both Alistair and the two nurses were just wonderful and their care and professionalism certainly made the procedure much less stressful. My follow-up review was consistent with the previous two consultations with him. Again, he explained what had happened during theatre, gave reasons for this and talked through minor pathways to conclude my treatment. I left with the treatment concluded and with no further questions or nagging doubts. Clearly, not only is Alistair not only a very well-qualified consultant but in my view, one of the best I have ever come across. I would have no hesitation in recommending him for any kind of vascular treatment; quite simply, I cannot see how what he did could be bettered.
