Last week, we here at Doctify hosted our second event. Held in our airy, stylish offices in the heart of Camden, ‘7 Emergencies a GP Should Never Miss’ was not only educational but also a chance to network and catch up with colleagues. Members of the Doctify team, alongside our collaborators in the event, MyLocumManager, took the opportunity to share a drink and chat with the doctors before settling down to hear three specialists speak.

The event was made possible with support from our sponsors, Optegra Eye Health Care, Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospital and IDF (Indepent Doctors Federation).

The program was varied and engaging and ran as follows:

Mr Alex Shortt is a Consultant Opthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He is an expert in the fields of cornea, cataract and refractive surgery. Mr Shortt is very passionate about research and has been awarded not only a PhD but also the prestigious Wellcome Trust Clinician Scientist Award. His talk included the opthalmic instruments a GP should have in their office and how to catch more serious eye conditions at the first exam.

Dr Antonis Pantazis is a Consultant Cardiologist at Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust. He is also the Trust’s clinical lead for cardiomyopathy. Dr Pantazis is an invited speaker at many national and international meetings. His talk focused on catching cardiac symptoms early.

Dr Mark Vanderpump is a Consultant Endocrinologist with a specialist focus in thyroid disease. He is President of the British Thyroid Association. As a leading expert in his field he is often invited to talk on national television about endocrinology and diabetes.

Thoughts from the organisers

Stephanie Eltz, one of the founders of Doctify said:

“The teaching was really helpful and I enjoyed meeting so many interesting GP colleagues during the networking.”

Surina Chibber of MyLocumManager agreed, saying:

“Our event received such overwhelming support from our GP colleagues. It was a fun, informative and engaging night and I can’t wait to do it again!”

Our next event will be coming up in the next couple of months for some of Doctify’s specialists.
