Dr Sandip Kamakhya Banerjee is a Consultant Respiratory and General Internal Medicine Physician. He is the Clinical Director of the specialist medicine programme at Medway NHS Foundation Trust. He completed his training in the UK in 2013 from Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. He has completed a MD in research from University of Hertfordshire on prognostic indicators in motor neurone disease. During his period of research he developed a sub-specialist interest in sleep medicine and respiratory support. He has helped develop the integrated COPD care model in Medway and Swale.
Dr Banerjee also sees private patients at KIMS (Kent Institute of Medical Science) Hospital and Sevenoaks Medical Centre. Dr Banerjee is also available for eConsultations for private patients in the UK and internationally.
Dr Banerjee is highly experienced in all areas of respiratory medicine and acute general medicine with specialist interest in airway disease such as asthma, COPD and bronchiectasis. He also has specialist interest in sleep related breathing disorders, periodic limb movement disorders and parasomnias. His clinical interests include breathlessness and cough. He is a respiratory specialist who can perform bronchoscopy and related investigations, pulmonary function tests and ultrasound guided pleural aspirations. In addition sleep investigations can also be organised.
Dr Banerjee graduated in 1996 from the University of Mumbai, India. He subsequently completed his residency training (MD Respiratory Medicine) from Mumbai University in 2001 and thereafter his DNB (Critical Care Medicine) in 2004. He completed his MRCP (London) in 2006 and MRCP (Respiratory Medicine) in 2008. He received his CCT in respiratory medicine from the East of England Deanery in 2013. He completed his MD (Research) from University of Hertfordshire in 2018.
