Mr Holton is very knowledgeable in his role as consultant orthopaedic surgeon. The consultations I had last year with him gave me the confidence to make an informed decision to go ahead with both hip replacements. He is a good listener and acknowledged the struggles that I was experiencing with pain in both my hips caused by arthritis. I had both hips replaced last year, in April and June. Mr Holton consulted with me on the day of each operation before surgery, putting me at ease and answering any last minute questions that I had. The operations were both successful and Mr Holton visited me the day after each operation. I was very reassured again by his calm and friendly bedside manner. One year on since my last hip replacement, I have been back to consult with him. At the appointment, my hips were X-rayed and Mr Holton was very positive about the results of the operations. He discussed with me what I should expect for the future and how he expected my hips to perform in the coming years. I feel that he genuinely cares. During each consultation with him he has always discussed pros and cons of having the surgery and has given me enough information to make an informed choice. At my more recent appointment he informed me again of possible risks of dislocation if I have a fall and of the recurrence of pain eventually. I can now say, after the operations that my life has transformed. The pain I suffered with due to the arthritis in both hips has gone. I am able to get in and out of the bath and put on my shoes and socks. My love of the great outdoors has returned now I can, once again, go fell-walking without any issues. I’ve got my life back again! I would highly recommend him as a surgeon. Without a doubt, he has transformed my life.
