5 stars are not enough, and there are no words I could write here that would do Dr. Zemrak the justice he deserves - all the stars in the universe and more, as he is really a miracle worker. By far the best cardiologist I've ever met - and I've met a lot of them in my time, as a 33 year old who was born with a congenital heart condition, I've been a regular cardiac patient at various hospitals since birth. I first met Dr. Zemrak less than a year ago when I was at the lowest point of my life, with physical ailments that had arisen as a result of my congenital condition that I had never previously encountered: arrhythmia and heart failure. At a certain point I could no longer even walk up the stairs without stopping from exhaustion every 1-2 steps, despite having been a fit and active healthy eater, who worked out daily. This was one of those things you never think will happen to you, and it hit me hard. I was not only incapacitated physically, but a nervous wreck who had come to avoid social gatherings, going out in public and driving, as any attempt to partake in what were once normal activities brought on panic attacks as a result of the fear of my cardiac symptoms, along with the cardiac symptoms themselves, debilitating me. I saw numerous cardiologists and had some treatments, but my symptoms and fitness level only marginally improved. I really wondered whether this was the end for me as I was starting to become depressed and lose hope. Enter Dr. Zemrak, who like sunshine in the storm, with his upbeat and warm manner, reassuring sense of calm, and touch of what I can only call magic, turned my world around. From my first appointment (and at every one thereafter), not only did he take time to listen to my concerns, answer all of my (many) questions with the patience of a saint, and explain some heavy medical concepts in detail (my heart condition is rather complex, certainly not for the faint hearted) in a way that the mere mortal could understand, but above all I felt like he understood me and that he genuinely cared. That to him I was not only a number in a list or a stranger who had just walked in the street, but a person, and talking to him felt as easy as talking to an old friend who I had known for years, as he instantly put me at ease, and made me feel like I mattered. So many of my worries had lifted upon our first encounter, as I saw light at the end of a tunnel I had been lost in for months and saw no way out from. Mentally, I felt like a new person to the one who had walked into Dr. Zemrak’s clinic for the first time. I felt a peace of mind I had forgotten existed, as with Dr. Zemrak I knew I was in safe and incredibly capable hands. Following his guidance and advice on lifestyle and how I could begin to take back control of my life, along with his enthusiastic encouragement and positive energy, I started to believe in myself again. For the first time in a long time I had the confidence to slowly start doing the things I was too scared to even think about doing, as Dr. Zemrak made me feel safe and secure now that I was under his care. He talked me through the various available approaches for treatment, explaining the options, benefits and supporting evidence of each, and weighing up the pros and cons, which relieved the fear that some other medics had induced in me when discussing possible treatments (some of which I learned from Dr. Zemrak were not the best in my case), without offering such thorough analysis and explanations. He alleviated the severe distress that had been growing in me by reassuring me of his dedication to ensuring the best possible outcomes long term, not only through words, but as was clearly evident in the actions that followed. He created a customised treatment plan based on careful analysis of my specific condition, medical history, and drawing upon the latest research, taking into account potential adjustments that may be needed. He ensured that I had regular check-ins between appointments, organised follow ups, communicated and kept me updated, and every tiny detail of my care was meticulous, prompt and organised; in short: flawless and faultless. Several months, appointments, one ICD surgery and some adjustments to my medications later, I’m living the life of a normal 33 year old again. I’m working out on a regular basis, driving (and have already taken several road trips), travelling internationally, and even conquered my long standing fear of public speaking by doing a presentation at a business symposium. At every appointment and interaction, Dr. Zemrak went above and beyond in the way he treated me, not just as a doctor with a patient, but as one human being with another, with utmost humanity. He is the most considerate, kind, caring, empathetic, and supportive doctor I have ever met. He is also extremely knowledgeable and his achievements in his field are impressive (I did my own research here, as he is too humble and down to earth to mention it all), but clearly he is at the top of his league as a professional and this stands out. I trust him 100% with my life and in making all and any of the critical decisions as it comes my continued medical care. Dr. Zemrak is without a doubt the best doctor in the world and a real life superhero. People like me are truly lucky that he exists, as I wouldn’t be where and who I am today without him. Not a day goes past when I don’t silently thank him for not only bringing me back to life, but bringing the colours back to what became a black and white world, to feeling like I’m not only existing but living, and to becoming the person that I once again recognise. I will be eternally grateful from the bottom of my heart to him, for giving me my life back, and a chance to live again.

I trained alongside Dr Zemrak and have taken great pleasure in watching him evolve into the fine clinician he is today. He has amassed an in-depth knowledge base across multiple cardiology domains including but not limited to congenital heart disease, cardiac imaging, heart failure and rhythm management, and pacemaker/device implantation. As a result, he is very well qualified to deliver an expert assessment of all types of cardiac symptoms and diagnoses. He distinguishes himself by his unerring commitment to steering the entire patient journey, ability to articulate complex problems in simple terms, and considerate manner that is appreciated by all. A very talented cardiologist who puts his patients first.
