Dr Rachel Jones is a consultant forensic psychiatrist at the Priory Hospital Chelmsford and BMI St Edmunds Hospital. She works alongside psychological therapists to give her patients comprehensive treatment.
Dr Jones qualified in 1993 from The University of London before working in the NHS at West Suffolk Hospital, and then the John Howard Secure Hospital where she treated patients with conditions such as mental illness, personality disorders, and drug/alcohol misuse. She has expertise in serious violent offences, psychiatric criminality, assessment of the effects of torture, and risk assessment. She has experience of appearing as an expert witness and of preparing psychiatric reports for the Crown Court and the Family Court.
Dr Jones has a special interest in Bioidentical Hormone Therapy, based on that fact that hormones (particularly sex hormones) impact very significantly on mood, anxiety, memory and sleep. Based on this, measures patients' hormones and balances them wherever possible to treat the cause of hormone associated mood disturbance. She may use this method instead of or in addition to prescribing medication.

I am now heading into yearly follow up and can honestly say I feel amazing, balanced and healthy. From beginning with Dr Rachel Jones in May last year to date, my experience has been completely positive. In my first session I was feeling completely overwhelmed by my menopausal symptoms and had lost myself. Dr Jones listens to all you have to say and completely gets it. I have gone from strength to strength and I get more of me back each day. I would highly recommend for any woman out there who feels the same, I promise you will feel better and get the woman you were back!!!

Dr Jones is a very lovely and professional lady, who is really dedicated to helping me with my hormonal issues related to perimenopause. She takes her time to explain everything and really listens to my experiences. I am about 5 months into treatment and haven't felt this good in a long time. I have never had such an easy experience with a caregiver. I love the ease of the video sessions and convenience of it all. It’s truly such a much needed service for all women (people) and I feel blessed to have found Dr Jones and the Hormone Clinic.
