“What a fantastic experience this has been. Mr Rao operated on both my hips over a period of six months. I found him to be very knowledgeable and approachable. He understood the problems I had been experiencing, which were exacerbated by some scoliosis in the spine. Mr Rao clearly described the process of total hip replacement surgery and what to expect over the recovery period. As well as providing me with new joints, he explained how he would attempt to rectify my leg length discrepancy. Indeed, on recovery from my second surgery six weeks ago I was delighted to find myself "level" at last! I am very happy to have chosen Mr Rao as my consultant.

Mr Rao listened carefully to my explanation of my condition whichI regarded as severe but the NHS assessment suggested no medical intervention was necessary a t this juncture. His view was rather different and he was able to show me the change in the condition of my hip in X-rays taken eight years apart, something my GP did not have access to. As a result it was agreed I would benefit from hip replacement surgery, which I have now had and the improvement in my condition was immediate.

Very honest and clear in explaining what my operation would entail and how recovery would look both in hospital and at home, in a realistic way. Warm and open, and answered all my questions. Very professional but kind, I felt safe in his hands and he checked up on me after my operation and helped me feel hopeful of life improving if I followed the clear guidance he gave me.
