Dr Spyros Gennatas is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at Guy's and St Thomas' hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. He specialises in the treatment of thoracic malignancies, including lung cancer, thymic epithelial tumours and mesothelioma. He is the Clinical Lead for the Acute Oncology Service at Guy's and St Thomas' hospitals.
Dr. Gennatas completed his Medical Oncology training at the Royal Marsden Hospital in 2019. He was awarded a PhD in the 'Genetic alterations leading to thymic epithelial malignancies', by Imperial College London (ICL) in 2018, following a 4 year research fellowship. Dr. Gennatas undertook his initial medical degree at the University of Leicester, graduating in 2006. The training that followed included core medical training, followed by 8 years as a Medical Oncology trainee; while undertaking extensive research among other professional undertakings, and in 2019 he was listed on the specialist register and began practicing as a consultant.
Dr. Gennatas' research interests include the development of novel therapeutic agents for the treatment of thoracic cancers, including lung cancer, thymic epithelial tumours and mesothelioma though clinical trials and translational research as well as the development of predictive and prognostic biomarkers.
