Professor Venu Kavarthapu is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in Lower Limb Orthopaedic Surgery. He trained in Orthopaedic Surgery on the South-East Thames Orthopaedic Rotation. Further fellowship training was obtained in specialised MIS (minimally invasive) and computer navigation hip surgery under the tuition of Dr Lawrence Dorr at the Arthritis Institute, and Dr Joel Matta at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Los Angeles, USA; hip arthroplasty at Guy's Hospital London, and foot & ankle surgery at Royal Surrey County and Frimley Park Hospitals, Surrey.
Prof. Kavarthapu was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at King's College Hospital, London in 2006. He runs a regional young adult hip surgery service, including hip arthroscopy and minimally invasive hip replacement surgery. He also heads a nationally recognised, multi-disciplinary, complex foot surgery service that undertakes corrective surgery required for foot deformities caused by diabetes.
Prof. Kavarthapu lectures nationally and internationally in numerous conferences; he has a special interest in diabetic foot surgery, lower limb trauma, hip arthroscopy, and primary and revision hip arthroplasty. He is actively involved in research and has published several scientific articles in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Prof. Kavarthapu's other responsibilities include Honorary Senior Lecturer at King's College London, Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark, Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Orthopaedics and Trauma, Education Committee Member of British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the immediate past President of International Association of Diabetic Foot Surgeons.
Prof Kavarthapu is a very kind and exceptionally skilled lower limb Consultant; he is incredibly highly regarded by both his patients and his peers.
His Private Practice is based in locations in Central and Greater London, he is covered by all main insurance companies and also has competitive rates for self-pay patients.

Professor Kavarthapu did my first hip replacement back in 2014 and I made sure that he did my second one this year. I appreciate the time he takes to explain why the treatment is necessary and what will be involved in the procedure. He treats his patients with respect, which I find very reassuring.
