I am writing to thank the National Health Service for all the care and attention I received in January 2013. I had a Laparscopic Nissen Fundoplication Reflux Disease this year on the 7th January by Mr YKS Viswanath and it has completely changed my life for the better. From my first consultation last year with Mr Viswanath to having my operation was approx 6 months as my problem was not life threating. I do not really think that it is a long time to wait and cannot understand why so many people criticise the N.H Service. Mr Viswanath from my first meeting was kind, caring and understanding about my condition and very pleasant, reassuring me that he could give me a better quality of life. "Of which he has done". I know that he was the surgeon who done my operation and I would just like to thank him from the bottom of my heart for giving me a far better quality of life, but I would like to thank all the staff from entering into the operation theatre to coming out. A big thank you also, for I know that Mr Viswanath could not operate without the assistant of his team, and also the kind, care and attention after my operation on the ward who were lovely. A very much appreciated thank you to all them. A long we may continue to have a marvellous National Health Service.

I recently underwent exploratory surgery at the Woodlands to correct an umbilical hernia operation carried out by the NHS in April of 2012 once this was completed I underwent a further operation to correct a rather large secondary hernia in my tummy. I would like to know how grateful I am to Mr Viswanath Consultant surgeon, I am absolutely delighted with the outcome, please pass on my thanks to him. Also can I express my thanks to the theatre and nursing staff/ catering staff who looked after me really well and made me fell at ease. Thank you all so very much.

Overall Experience of Hernia Operation with Doctor Viswanath, had two consultants and had a rupture to the groin muscle. The operation was a success and I was looked after with the upmost care and quality. Dr Vis followed up with a consultation and everything was fine, The whole experience was extremely good and the health Care to a very high standard

Over several years I have experienced symptoms such as heartburn, nausea, regurgitation, Dysphagia, Dyspepia and even chest pain. These symptoms have worsened as time went by, but to me as I had lived with these experiences for so long it became a norm. My father had always had what seemed like severe heartburn and 'just lived with it', so then so did I. Taking medication such as Lanzoprazole, Gaviscon etc. had little or no effect at the point of my worst symptoms. My lifestyle was very much controlled by the severity of my symptoms. Such as planning in advance for example, if I was to go out for a meal. I would carry a plastic bag in my handbag in case of regurgitation. This was extremely stressful. The evening would end with disturbed sleep due to acid burning. My worst and traumatic experience regarding my reflux as an emergency admission to hospital. I had felt over several hours a tightening in my chest and a lump in my throat effecting my swallowing. My breathing became very difficult. It came to a crucial point whereby I felt I was having a heart attack. During this admission I was also investigating for a suspected blood clot in my lung due to the severity of my symptoms and pain. It became apparent that my symptoms had been a result of gastric reflux. It was not until I had attend an outpatient review following an operation to remove my Gallbladder some months previous, that I discussed my symptoms and experiences in detail to surgeon Mr Viswanath. Dear Mr Viswanath, I would like to thank you very much for the assessment, the procedure carried out and your post operative care and attention to correct what appears now to have been the symptoms of discomfort to myself for a number of years. Your advice regarding the need to operate, more quickly than I assumed, was very sound judgement, your patience to explain matters was professional and much appreciated. The facilities at Darlington were excellent, I was impressed by the care of the staff and their thoughtful after care. It would be very appropriate to mention your close colleague Dr Kallia, your anaesthetist, who sent me off to sleep, my ability to fight the injection as usual failed, I returned to a child who could never count beyond five! Mr Viswanath, thank you again, I really do feel the best I have felt in years, for that I am forever grateful. I hope you may find this testimonial of benefit, your are a credit to your profession.

I am writing to thank you for the excellent care I received both from yourself and your team during my recent stay in your hospital, and for all your efforts to make me well again which, I'd gland to say, seem to have been entirely successful. After being admitted to Sunderland Royal Hospital on the 26th May 2013 where various health assessments were made; I was transferred to James Cook University Hospital where I had two operations; the first performed on my hearty by a Cardiac Surgeon and his back up team and the second, a bowel operation by Mr Viswanath and his back up team. I owe my life to these dedicated people and it seems so little just to thank them which of course I do. Afterwards it clearly showed that I was very poorly, being visited by surgeons and their back up team frequently. To the credit of all people working in the hospital I never felt down, but felt quite humble at the outstanding work that I witnessed from the nursing staff. There were no long faces, always smiles and the willingness to deal with your needs to the best of their ability. May I say that I cannot possibly name all those who looked after me on the wards, however the two days before my discharge I was cared by the Staff Nurses and their work showed the excellent care given to me during the whole of my stay in hospital. There can be no doubt that James Cook Hospital is seen worldwide as magnificent in every respect of procedures carried out there, so for all that above I thank you all.

I was treated by Mr Vishwanath and his wonderful staff who assisted with my Stretta procedure on the 10th of April.I would just like to inform you that,everyone i came in contact with all the nurses in theatre and in the recovery room were outstanding.They were friendly and look after me so well during the entire time i was in there care.The endoscopy Unit is run very efficiently and i received my follow up appointment and a telephone survey straight after my procedure,which was very impressive.Mr Vishwanath is a wonderful consultant and James Cook Hospital is very lucky to have him.I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone concerned.
