Dr Philip Paul Nichols is a consultant neurologist at Re:Cognition Health, where he specialises in the assessment of patients with traumatic brain injury.

He gained his medical qualification in 1991 from Newcastle University Medical School before undertaking general medicine training in London in 1994. He then went on to complete an MRC clinical research fellowship at Oxford University in 2001, followed by specialist neurology training at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford as well as on the northern Deanery neurology rotation. In 2002, he gained his specialist registration.

Dr Nichols then became a Department of Health Clinician Scientist, along with his other roles of honorary consultant neurologist and senior lecturer in neurology at Newcastle University Medical School, where he was based until 2013. Here, he ran a general neurology practice whilst he undertook specialist training in white matter disease, specifically multiple sclerosis. In 2010, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
