Miss Safina Ali, Consultant ENT, Head & Neck Surgeon, is currently based within The Royal London and University College London Hospitals NHS Trusts. She is highly specialised in the full range of adult ENT issues, with a specific interest in benign and malignant conditions of the Head & Neck.
Miss Ali began her medical education at the University of Glasgow, where she graduated with a Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery. She then went on to complete her Higher Speciality Training in ENT Surgery within the East of Scotland training rotation, training at hospitals in Inverness, Aberdeen and Edinburgh. She then went on to undertake a highly respected fellowship at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, New York, developing further her abilities in ENT surgery. Following this, she went on to develop skills in Head and Neck ablative and reconstructive surgery by undergoing fellowships at Guys and Charing Cross Hospitals. She was then appointed to her first consultant position in 2014.

Great at her job with a passion for patient care and improving quality of life

Miss Ali has dramatically improved my breathing. I met Miss Ali because of abusing a decongestant (Sudafed spray) and because of a deviated septum. First, Miss Ali checked and confirmed some allergens which worsened my breathing, then prescribed some steroid drugs which were helping partially. At that point following a scan it was clear a surgery was necessary: turbinate reduction and septoplasty Miss Ali managed successfully to dramatically improve my breathing in the nostril which was previously constantly blocked. I actually think I didn't breathe that well in many years, even before any issue in my nose arose as I guess I have had a deviated septum for many years and got used to living with it (until recent years when I abused decongestants). Dr Safina Ali was at least 15 minutes late to each of the appointments (3) that we had. She did not know the reason that I was there for the third appointment which meant that there was nobody prepared to take out my stitches and I had additional time to wait for the removal. Furthermore I had to contact her secretary (after waiting) to arrange each follow up appointment, even though she said that she would get her secretary to contact me. The actual medical procedure went smoothly, and i felt like she knew what she was doing, but everything outside of that was very poorly organised and did not reflect well on "bedside manner" of Dr Ali.

Miss Ali was very professional with me and she cared about my welfare mentally as well. I was quite comfortable with how she handled my situation, she explained the next steps in my care and I felt heard and involved which to me is the best feeling being a patient. I am definitely looking forward to seeing her again.

I was early, I was taken in late with no apology, the consultation lasted all of 5 minutes, she was keen to get me out of there. Asked no questions about whether I was worried about it or the impact it was having. Would not book her for future appointments. Felt very NHS rushed
