I had tried other therapist before (and other therapies) but none as efficient as working with Monika. From the beginning of our work together she has been very patient, understanding and always managed to put my concerns and fears at easy. I was able to open up and process my past issues and traumas, whilst feeling supported and guided in the most professional way. Since working together I have made great progress in my recovery and I have seen concrete positive changes in my life, all of which I wholeheartedly attribute to our work together. While Monika is a very genuine, pleasant and gentle person, she also helps me achieve visible progress. She offers many opportunities to keep working even outside of the sessions to get better even quicker. Very happy that Monika is my therapist!
I've been to a dozen therapists in my life, and I found most of them were cold or unenlightened or money-obsessed or just out of their depth. To be quite frank, in some cases I wasn't totally convinced of their own emotional stability. Just as in life, it is difficult in a therapeutic setting to find people competent and strong enough to handle difficult situations. The difference is that the consequences in therapy can be more severe. I have had a few good therapists too of course, but none as warm, as competent, as effective, as reassuring or as pragmatic as Monika. These things are personal, but I find it difficult to imagine anyone feeling uncomfortable in her presence or in her therapy rooms. I have been seeing Monika for a few months now and whilst that may seem like a short period of time in terms of conventional therapy, the speed at which damage heals and life starts to change in EMDR/Brainspotting is unbelievable. I sought treatment for an abusive relationship that ended the best part of a decade ago, but also because I am the child of maternal abandonment. So the wounds being resolved are *old*. Some of the memories emerging from childhood are memories I haven't had for the 33 years since. It feels almost miraculous. I have also been to someone who practised pure EMDR but Monika's training in brainspotting really sets her apart. I find both invaluable and would miss brainspotting if I went to a therapist who wasn't trained in it. It is the natural development of EMDR, which is now almost dated (even though I only heard about it myself a year ago!). Monika also has a extraordinary flexibility I haven't seen in other EMDR therapists who are more rote about how they set out their sessions. If something changes for me during the week or even in the therapy room, Monika is very quick and adept at changing course.
