About
Jo Lucas is an Orthotist with a great interest in the field of Orthotics and is dedicated to treating a range of foot problems. Prior to this, she was working in the Intelligence Branch of the Royal Navy. She decided to switch her career path into the field of Prosthetics and Orthotics, in which she had completed a BSc degree at the University of Salford. With her military background, she has been able to develop a technical mind which she can now use in her speciality in Orthotics.
Jo has also worked several years within the NHS, also within the field of Orthotics but felt she could not balance her clinical work, along with childcare and felt like her job wasn’t as fulfilling as she didn’t have access to the best orthotics. Following on from this, she decided to establish The Lakes Orthotics (her private clinic) in 2014. This has allowed her to be more flexible, being able to spend time with her family and providing her clients with the best treatments and services.
She would initially use foam impression boxes and plaster casts for her patients but wanted to find something that can be used more easily. She found Footscan at BAPO (British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists) in 2017 and this provides her with a much better clinical picture to better fully understand the foot problems of her patients. This can therefore allow Jo to allocate the right treatments for her patients.
