Mr Ramkissoon graduated from the University of Cambridge MB PhD Programme in 1997 with a distinction in Medicine and a PhD in Molecular Biology. He continued to maintain high standards in his training, going on to completed his Ophthalmology residency training at the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, where he also undertook Fellowship training in both Vitreo-Retinal Surgery (2007-2008) and Medical Retina (2008), before being appointed as a Consultant and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Sheffield in 2009.
Mr. Ramkissoon he has been awarded numerous prizes and scholarships throughout his career, including the Royal College of Ophthalmologists McCartney Prize; a testament to his excellence.
Mr Ramkissoon is active in research has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals. He has also co-authored book chapters on Cataract Surgery and Retinal Detachment. He is committed to teaching and training and is Educational Supervisor and College Tutor for Ophthalmology trainees in Sheffield and has been Undergraduate Teaching Lead at the University of Sheffield. In addition, he is a Microsurgical Skills Faculty Member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London and maintains an active role in clinical research relevant to vitreo-retinal surgery.

Mr Ramkissoon has a relaxed and friendly manner. He quickly set me at ease and openly encouraged questions. He continually checked and confirmed my understanding of his findings and diagnosis. I would not hesitate to seek his advice in future.

At all times, at first consultation, at admission/procedure, Mr Ramkissoon was very thorough in taking history, examination, sharing his thoughts, giving information in a calm open friendly manner which gave me complete confidence in his ability to look after me and my problem successfully. Even before I first met him, I was impressed with the amount of information regards cataract surgery, types of lens and aftercare that were sent to me. He was able to answer all my queries and gave no indication of time pressure, ensuring I had plenty of time to discuss my issues.

I have had cataracts in both eyes. Mr Ramkissoon has performed the replacement lens procedure on both. My first in 2017 and my second in 2023. On each occasion Mr Ramkissoon explained the procedure and my options in great detail allowing me to.make the right lens choice for me. He patiently answered all my questions. Each lens replacement has improved my vision enormously and transformed my life. Mr Ramkissoon is an excellent surgeon and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

I was apprehensive when researching cataract surgery, but having met Mr. Ramkissoon at my initial consultation my concerns were immediately alleviated by his great knowledge and experience. All options were thoroughly explained and discussed and having decided on a strategy the execution and results are nothing short of miraculous. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Ramkissoon to family and friends in need of treatment.

Mr. Ramkissoon provides an outstanding service and level of care. He encourages me to ask any questions that come to mind in the appointment which I really appreciate and the answers are always clear and precise. I am a bit of a nervous patient but Mr. Ramkissoon has a very calm nature which helps me tremendously in the appointment. I find the whole experience very reassuring, especially the fact that I can contact him in between appointments should anything arise needing attention. I could not be happier with the service Mr. Ramkissoon provides; I am very grateful to have found such an excellent doctor and would recommend him to anyone.
