Mr Wisam Muen is a renowned award-winning Consultant Ophthalmologist specialing in laser refractive and lens Surgeon. He works at the Royal Eye Unit at Kingston NHS Trust along with his private practice. With nearly 20 years of experience and over five thousand eye surgeries, clients can be assured they are in safe and skilled hands. He has received fantastic testimonials from former clients along with awards of excellence within the NHS. He also received the British Medical Association award for the Best Medical Research Project and the Manchester University Best Neuroscience Research Project
Mr Muen qualified from Manchester University in 1997 and completed an extensive training scheme in General Surgical training before specialising in Ophthalmology. He continued his career across hospitals in Liverpool, Scotland, Cambridge and London and completed advanced training in the diagnosis and management of corneal eye diseases and laser eye surgery. He is one of the very few surgeons in the world to hold dual accreditation after completing specialist training in children’s eye diseases, which can be some of the most complex in the field of Ophthalmology.
He is the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Tutor for the Royal Eye Unit and is responsible for the training of junior eye
doctors. Mr Muen is heavily involved in research and has published many peer-reviewed articles in international journals and is a member of multiple professional societies including the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He is committed to improving patient outcomes and holds seminars to share his experience and knowledge with other healthcare professionals.
In his scarce free time, Mr Muen enjoys keeping active by cycling and trekking and playing racquet sports.
