Consultant General and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon (UGI) in York and Scarborough NHS Trust since 2000. Senior tutor, Surgical Curriculum advisor and Phase II Surgical Lead at Hull York Medical School (HYMS).
Main interests are in gallstones, gallbladder disease, bariatric (obesity) surgery, anti reflux (Fundoplication) surgery and abdominal wall hernia repair. Majority of surgery in UGI is carried out laparoscopically (keyhole)

Qualifications
Graduated from the University of Glasgow with MBChB with Houseman training in Scotland. Joined the West Midland Surgical Rotation and obtained the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in 1999. Had the opportunity to work in the Birmingham Liver Unit under the supervision of Professors P McMaster, J . Buckels, D Mirza and D Mayer. Awarded the MD (Doctor of Medicine) degree for the thesis 'The Molecular of Pathology' in 1998 by University of Glasgow. Have been working as Consultant General and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon (UGI) in York since 2000.
