“Mr Yoon successful carried out my lower back operation earlier this year. He was very clear about the procedure and gave good advice throughout the time I have been under his care. Hopefully I’ll never have to need his help again but if I did then I know I’d be in safe hands. Suzanne his secretary was also very helpful booking the appointments around my diary. Thank you both for all your help.“

Having been crippled for 14 montages with herniated disk problems and terrible sciatica I visited Mr Yoon at the Nuffield Leicester. I found him to be very attentive to detail, kind and caring. He carefully and clearly explained the available options which helped me decide to go ahead with an operation to deal with an L3/4 decompression and L3/4 Discectomy. Following my operation, the sever pain I had been in had gone, I was able to stand up straight within hours with only slight nerve sensations to the front of my thighs which settled in a couple of weeks. Mr Yoon has closely monitored my full recovery and I thank him most scincerly, It may sound dramatic, but he really has given me my life back, I’m now back working on my garden which is my pride and joy. Thank you Mr Yoon.

    Patient seen for:
Mr Yoon has been an amazing consultant. I went to see him after being in pain for 6 months and after having been let down by a previous consultant. Mr Yoon immediately made me comfortable and at ease and I felt that he listened clearly to everything that I had to say. He gave me information about my options and we discussed my questions and concerns. He immediately prioritised me for treatment and a week later I received a nerve root block. Unfortunately this was unsuccessful and on seeing Mr Yoon again for a follow-up consultation I think he was just as disappointed as I was at the result. Following this, after an MRI scan I was again prioritised for surgery. Mr Yoon explained clearly to me what was going to happen during surgery and the recovery afterwards. Three weeks later I had the procedure. Mr Yoon visited me before the operation to answer any questions that I had. He visited me after surgery in the hospital room and explained that all had gone well. I wasn't expecting to see him again, but at 9pm that same evening, Mr Yoon came back to see me to check that all was well. I think this was above and beyond what any other consultant would do for their patients. The following day, the nurses told me that they usually discharge patients without the consultant visiting, but yet again Mr Yoon insisted on visiting me in the hospital before I was discharged. At my 7 week post-operative follow-up appointment he listened carefully to my progress and answered my extremely long list of questions. I cannot rate Mr Yoon highly enough and I am so grateful for everything that he has done for me.

From the moment I met Mr. Yoon I felt he listened to me and reassuringly offered me treatment options for my pain and ongoing symptoms. Both before and after an L4/5 decompression he provided information in a professional but relaxed friendly manner, answering all of my questions. First day post surgery, my painful leg symptoms had all subsided and I really wasn’t expecting to walk without any pain initially! My post surgery progress has been much better than I had anticipated. I soon stopped all my pain relief and gradually I’m improving enough to go back to work as a nurse. I can’t thank Mr.Yoon enough as he really has given me my life back. Thank you.

Mr Yoon has a personable manner, engaging way of working, is always clear in his explanations and happy to discuss any element that provides insight or reassurance as needed. His exceptional level of experience in the field is never in doubt, and this combination of knowledge and engagement means having conversations about such important subjects are made that much easier. Highly recommended, and along with the exceptional PA support provided by Ms Sale this makes the ideal combination.

The need for compliance with Covid 19 restrictions meant that the consultation probably had less physical investigation than would normally happen. The Patient has Alzheimers, which further complicates options open, e.g. MRI scan.
