Mr Matthews explained why a rotator cuff repair was not suitable for me due to muscle atrophy and the condition of my tendons. I had an MRI and a CT scan to confirm the condition of my shoulder.

Had an initial consultation with Mr Matthews who was very pleasant, informative and carried out a thorough examination. My shoulder was very painful, clicked continually and its movement was severely reduced. He advised a shoulder replacement and surgery was agreed. There was some issue with the hospital with the wrong price being given but Mr Matthews sorted this out. I underwent surgery in August 2022 and everything went perfectly. I followed all instructions to the letter including physiotherapy and two months after surgery my shoulder was as good as new. I now have full movement of the shoulder and thankfully no pain. I did my homework before choosing Mr Matthews as my surgeon and I know I made the right decision. I would have no hesitation in going back to him should I have problems with other joints and indeed recommending him to others.
