Mr Aho is the ultimate professional i can not recommend him enough. For over 20 years i experienced pain and discomfort with my prostate and was a regular visitor to the NHS Urology department at my local hospital. Whilst the NHS did a good job i found myself just being given test after test at 6 month intervals with no actual progress in eliminating the BHP. When i got to the advanced stage of not being able to pass urine at all and went into retention the NHS quoted me 17 weeks for a HoLEP referral and 36 weeks for the actual green light or HoLEP operation - this was not acceptable to me as i was in retention and in severe pain. HoLEP was the only solution due to the size of my prostate (160mm) and with such long waits on the NHS i was forced to go private. I did extensive research and Mr Tev Aho looked to be the best man for the job as he had the most experience and the best referrals. Obviously committing to one consultant is a risk but the reviews i read put my mind at ease and i am happy to do do the same now, as Mr Aho is the true professional in his field. Straight away after my operation i was up and about and was discharged the next day. Immediately i could pass urine, the blood loss was negligable and the pain was mild. The operation totally transformed my life with no more visits to the bathroom in the night and virtually no pain. Now 12 weeks after my operation i am experiencing a little leakage which i can cope with but compared to my life pre op i can live with this. Thank you Mr Aho for what you did for me and to anyone else thinking of having HoLEP with Mr Aho i would highly recommend him as one of not the best consultant in the UK to do this operation. Mr Aho has a very reassuring style and conveys his expertise very well. He was clear about my prognosis and the options open to me. I was happy to be guided by his recommendation and to proceed with the HoLEP procedure.

I suffered from urinary retention as a result of having a very large prostate. Having discussed possible procedures with my urologist, we agreed that HoLEP was the best way forward. As HoLEP wasn't available in the part of the country where I live, he recommended I check out Tev Aho. I looked up Mr Aho's record and it was clear that he was probably the top urologist in Britain specialising in the HoLEP procedure. Consequently, I would probably have approached him even if the procedure had been available locally. I was very glad indeed that I did contact Tev. I had a preliminary online consultation with him a few days later, and my operation was scheduled a couple of weeks after that. The operation was conducted at the Princess Grace Hospital, London and involved an overnight stay there. Everything about my ability to pass urine is now very much back to normal (including no more getting up in the middle of the night etc) and has been since about 2.5 months after the operation. Under the expert care of Mr Aho and his team, the HoLEP procedure has been 100% successful. From my first meeting with Tev, through the procedure itself, through to my consultation with him three months later, my experience has been as positive as I could have hoped for. If you have BPE and your prostate is suitable for HoLEP, then Tev Aho is the urologist you need. I can't praise him and the team he works with too highly.

Tev is a highly capable and charming physician. His deep knowledge regarding the HOLEP procedure and easy going manner provides great reassurance both before and after the operation.

From the very first telephone conversation with Mr Aho I felt reassured and confident I would be in very good hands. He listened carefully to my situation and explained the procedure he was recommending in detail. He described the operation in a clear and easy to understand manner and gave me video links to watch to further help my understanding. Meeting him in person was a pleasure and at all times he has been courteous, charming and very down to earth.

I searched for the best surgeon in the UK when it was clear I needed prostate surgery. My search led me to Tev. My experience was fantastic. Tev was great from the beginning. He explained the procedure and the expectations for recovery completely. My experience was just as he explained. The operation was a complete success and my recovery was actually quite easy. This was a life changing operation for me in many way. I sleep throughout the night getting up at most once to pee. I am able to go anywhere now and not be concerned with being close to a toilet. It is clear he is passionate about his work. Tev is a brilliant surgeon and a caring person. I am very lucky to have had him go my procedure.
