He is the specialist who did the surgery to remove the pterygium from my left eye. To me, he is a genius. I came from the Caribbean to England specifically to try and remedy my failing eyesight, due to the pterygium growing over my left eye. My son organised for me to see Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon Dr Tariq Ayoub, whom he highly recommended. And what a joyful eye opener it turned out to be. As instructed, a fortnight after the operation, I went back for Dr Ayoub to check on progress and to ensure all was well with my eye. I knew the results before he told me because for the first time in twelve years, my vision was as clear as an eagle’s. All tests completed, he concluded that I had 20/20 vision in my left eye. What a joy! Thank God and Dr Tariq Ayoub. From the start, Dr Tariq’s calm, pointed, yet reassuring manner in outlining the possible outcomes of the operation, negative and positive, inspired real hope within me. He sounded trust worthy. And I trusted him. Being fully awake throughout the operation, yet feeling absolutely no pain, being informed at the different stages and reassured by Tariq, as he went about his delicate and highly technical operation, I thought to myself, ‘This man, must be a genius.’ Operation successfully completed, medication, verbal and written instructions for home care given to me; just before leaving his surgery, I still felt obligated to tell Dr Tariq Ayoub, “Doc, you certainly have gifted hands. I think you are a genius.” He smiled, said: “Thanks … … I am not a genius, I just enjoy doing my best, to help as many people as I can.” I am living proof that consultant ophthalmic surgeon Dr Tariq Ayoub is an excellent eye specialist and I highly recommend him to all. I was referred to Mr Ayoub and his team by my optician for cataract eye surgery and Mr Ayoub was able to operate very soon afterwards. At all stages of the process, I was kept well informed about what to expect and what I needed to do, with clear explanations of the procedure and the care. The whole experience was as smooth as could be expected and I'm extremely happy with the result (remarkably better vision).

I had superb life changing experience at Oculase for an ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) surgery. Dr. Tariq Ayoub is a wonderful surgeon, and the staff was always helpful and kind. They ensured I had a smooth prep, surgery, and plenty of follow-up checks. I am so glad I chose Oculase and would highly recommend to anyone considering corrective eye surgery. TL:DR - if you’d like to learn more about my journey, read on …. I had been wearing glasses from the age of 5, maybe earlier, perhaps I was too young to remember for certain. I have very high myopia (approx -9 to -10 diopters) with astigmatism added to the mix. Thus, Laser surgery was never in the cards for me. I had gotten used to a life wearing thick glasses which meant minimising contact sports, foggy vision in winter due to glass condensation and many other things such as swimming wasn’t very enjoyable. I had tried contact lenses for a while but they were a pain as eyes got dry and the headache of remembering to take them off for bed time. When I spoke with Tariq about my issues and wanting a glasses free solution, I was intrigued and somewhat skeptical to hear about ICL surgery, so decided to explore it. I had a several consultations at Oculase where detailed checks were done on my eyes in order to determine the best possible solution. I had lengthy discussions with Tariq where he explained why ICL was the best option, backed by data from the scans and insights from experts. Of course, there were risks as well which I felt Tariq did best to put me at ease. His availability night and day over a quick call or response to messages was super helpful in this process. The operation itself was expertly handed by Tariq and the team. I was fairly relaxed thanks to the pre op discussion by the friendly staff at the clinic (and calming music helped!). The procedure was quick, painless and almost immediately after I was able to see better than I did with glasses. There were of course some artefacts in my vision (flashes, halos) which took a few weeks to go away as the eyes healed from surgery. Post operative care was explained to me thoroughly by the clinical team and Tariq was always at hand to address any concerns as my eyes healed over the weeks. Within a week my vision had become better than ever, perfect 20/20 and with most of the meticulous post op aftercare out of the way, I began to take notice of improvements in lifestyle. No more blurry showers or swimming, no fumbling for glasses first thing in morning or during night waking, not having to repeatedly clean glasses thorough out the day, improved peripheral vision, no lenses, no glasses anxiety when exercising, playing sports or going out for a run, the list goes on. I will most certainly add to the list of improvements as more things being apparent, that I had just gotten “used to” while wearing glasses. In closing, my only regret is not knowing of this earlier in life! Thank you Tariq and Oculase for taking me through this life changing experience.

I had to wear glasses from a very young age. Having a considerable amount of prescription (over -6) and astigmatism, I wasn't sure if I would be suitable for laser eye surgery. Fortunately, Mr. Ayoub was very patient and informative. On the day of the initial consultation, I had multiple scans and a full through eye assessment. At end of the consultation he assured me that I was a suitable candidate for laser eye surgery. He gave a very detailed description of the various procedures - I opted to have PRK rather than LASIK. On the procedure day, the behaviour of the team was professional and friendly putting me at ease. I had been warned to expect some pain and discomfort for a couple of days after my PRK procedure so I was well prepared for this. However the pain was minimal. I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes. The surgery has changed my life. I was intolerant to contact lens and found wearing glasses just a hinderance and annoying. Now I am able to do everything without glasses. I am glad I picked Mr. Ayoub for my surgery. For anyone considering having laser eye surgery, I would say it is the best decision you will ever take and I would highly recommend Mr. Ayoub and his team at Oculase without any hesitation.

I found the procedure (YAG Capsulotomy) very straightforward and comfortable and I was at all stages carefully informed by Mr Ayoub as to what to expect. Indeed, the whole session was conducted in a calm, reassuring and professional way. I felt I was very well looked after. I experienced almost immediate improvement in my vision which is continuing. I can now read almost all the credits or subtitles on the tv without glasses and I am now able to read all sections of the newspaper and books with even my old glasses, (prescribed prior to lockdown), which I have not been able to do for many months. It looks as though I might only need reading glasses and shall get new ones asap. So I am really thankful to Mr Ayoub for this treatment, which has been a very positive experience for me, much improving my daily life.
