“Faultless from start to finish. Simon's explanations are clear and concise and within 10 weeks of the operation I have completely recovered all of my lost hip movement and I am completely pain free. The hospital and anaesthetist were also first class.“

    About

Mr Simon Bridle specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery. He graduated in Medicine in London in 1981 and did his orthopaedic training there, with a specialist Fellowship in Adelaide, Australia. He was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at St George’s Hospital, London in 1994, with a specialist interest in hip and knee surgery, including primary replacements and revision surgery. He left his NHS post at St George’s in September 2016 after over 20 years, to focus on his private practice.

As well as performing a large number of primary hip and knee replacements, he has an interest in failed hip and knee implants and in particular the investigation and treatment of painful and infected hip and knee replacements. Simon helped set up and run the Complex Arthroplasty Unit at St George’s, treating patients referred to us by our colleagues with these problems. He has been involved in the treatment of a large number of these challenging cases over the years, with good results.

Simon was active in management, including roles as Lead for Orthopaedics, Clinical Director for Surgery and Clinical Director for Major Trauma. He was involved in the training of junior doctors and helped supervise a Senior Fellow at St George’s. He also helps run the Orthopaedic section of the annual Doctors Updates meeting.

From the initial consultation to the bilateral knee replacement and the follow up consultations everything has been explained clearly and the quality of the surgery was excellent judged by the speed of my recovery. I would not hesitate in recommending him.

Dr Bridle has replaced both of my hips without any problems. The surgery technique and healing processes were always fully explained so that I felt confident and relaxed before going into hospital. Both of my replacements have been a great success, enabling me to lead a fully mobile and pain free life! I cannot rate Dr Bridle highly enough and would recommend him to anyone seeking hip replacement.

I first went to see Mr Bridle at Parkside Hospital in September 2020. He had a very pleasant manner and explained the procedure for my total hip replacement, answering all of my questions. I had the operation in mid November, and again, Mr Bridle visited me prior to, and after surgery going through what to expect. The only thing I might have done differently, is to stay in hospital three nights instead of the two as the third night was the most uncomfortable with my leg swelling making me a bit anxious. Thirteen weeks later, my scar is healing well and I'm walking without the pain I had previously and with the help of the fantastic physio team I'm now walking just over 10,000 steps a day on average. The whole team, including Mr Bridle's PA Adriana have been exceptional. I am very pleased with the outcome. t

Mr Bridle replaced both of my hips 2 years apart. Everything was explained to me from start to finish. I felt totally safe, looked after by him and his team and have recovered to a point where i am now back horse riding as though nothing has happened. No hesitation in recommending Mrs Bridle although I hope don't have to see him again any time soon!

I would like to thank you very much for both hip replacement operations. I have made an amazing recovery and can now work happily, standing on my feet all day and am back to riding. I run a riding school and being able to work pain-free has made a massive difference to me. I have not taken any painkillers or anti-inflammatory drugs now for 3 months, so pleased considering I had taken them for some years leading up to the operations. I feel that I have received five start treatment from both you and your staff at St Anthony's... I cannot thank you enough!
