Mr Simon Bridle specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery. He graduated in Medicine in London in 1981 and did his orthopaedic training there, with a specialist Fellowship in Adelaide, Australia. He was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at St George’s Hospital, London in 1994, with a specialist interest in hip and knee surgery, including primary replacements and revision surgery. He left his NHS post at St George’s in September 2016 after over 20 years, to focus on his private practice.
As well as performing a large number of primary hip and knee replacements, he has an interest in failed hip and knee implants and in particular the investigation and treatment of painful and infected hip and knee replacements. Simon helped set up and run the Complex Arthroplasty Unit at St George’s, treating patients referred to us by our colleagues with these problems. He has been involved in the treatment of a large number of these challenging cases over the years, with good results.
Simon was active in management, including roles as Lead for Orthopaedics, Clinical Director for Surgery and Clinical Director for Major Trauma. He was involved in the training of junior doctors and helped supervise a Senior Fellow at St George’s. He also helps run the Orthopaedic section of the annual Doctors Updates meeting.

I would like to thank you very much for both hip replacement operations. I have made an amazing recovery and can now work happily, standing on my feet all day and am back to riding. I run a riding school and being able to work pain-free has made a massive difference to me. I have not taken any painkillers or anti-inflammatory drugs now for 3 months, so pleased considering I had taken them for some years leading up to the operations. I feel that I have received five start treatment from both you and your staff at St Anthony's... I cannot thank you enough!
I would highly recommend Mr. SImon Bridle. He is an extremely experienced orthopedic surgeon who is also a good listener and a reassuring presence. His whole team are first rate as is Parkside Hospital The care I received, pre-op, during my hospital stay, and post-op, was outstanding.
Very easy manner, explained everything clearly and offered very helpful advice
I would like to thank you most warmly for the splendid treatment I received from you and all the staff at St Anthony's and Parkside Hospital. My recuperation seems to be progressing well, although I still experience some discomfort it is nothing like before and I am truly thankful.
Thank you for the amazing job you did replacing my hip. I have just celebrated my 60th birthday and was able to stand all day and dance for over 2 hours! This would not have been possible before my operation and I am so very grateful to you.
Thank you for your skill in replacing my left hip. I was miserable for 4-6 weeks but now that I can walk without pain I am so grateful!
Very many thanks for your sterling work on my 2nd hip replacement. I wouldn't go to any other surgeon!
Like so many other patients I appreciate your skills and care.
Mr Bridle and the team took care of me as if I was the most important person on Earth. Thank you all for your care and understanding. I vouch for the fact that Mr Bridle is a real life saver, replacing my knee has made so much difference to my quality of life. I am forever grateful and would happily recommend you to my family and friends.
Thank you so much for carrying out the procedure on my hip, I would not have wanted anyone else to have done it.
Thank you very much indeed for the marvellous operation you performed on my hip! Throughout my recovery I never felt any serious discomfort and my recovery was really fast, I was walking without a crutch within a couple of weeks! Thanks to you the whole experience was amazingly painless and I am very grateful.
Thanking you very much indeed for the marvellous operation you performed on my hip. Now ten months later, I am not only back to normal but I tend to forget that I ever had a problem. When I do remember I bless you. From the moment I woke up at the Cromwell hospital after the anaesthetic I never felt any serious discomfort. The recovery was really fast and I was walking without a crutch within a couple of weeks. Thanks to you the whole experience was amazingly painless. I am very grateful.
