Sergio Pagliarini has been a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, NHS Trust since 2001, where he leads the macular degeneration services and research on macular disease.

Sergio Pagliarini is the author and co-author of several peer reviewed research articles on retinal diseases, author of retinal textbook chapters and contributor to on-line retinal OCT Atlas. He has been awarded a National Research Award from Dame Sally Davies.

Sergio Pagliarini conceptualised and opened a state-of-the-art Macular Unit in Rugby in 2011. This attracted multi-centre clinical research in macular disease and provided an environment for testing new retinal diagnostic imaging equipment.

Sergio Pagliarini specialises in Macular degeneration, Retinal vein occlusion, Diabetic retinopathy treatment, uveitis, Intravitreal injections, Intravitreal steroid implants, Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) for central serous retinopathy, cataract surgery, YAG laser post-cataract surgery, Retinal diagnostic imaging, OCT, Fluorescein angiography and Indocyanine green (ICG) angiography.

Sergio Pagliarini is a Director of "Macula Care Limited". He consults and treats private patients at the Warwickshire Nuffield Hospital in Leamington Spa, at the Meriden Hospital in Coventry and at Edgbaston Eye Consultants in Birmingham.

Sergio Pagliarini is Co-Director of Edgbaston Eye Consultants Limited. This is a practice run independently by doctors

to control cost of private eye care.

At Edgbaston Eye Consultants, State-of-the-art diagnostic and operating theatre facilities can be accessed at generally lower cost than at most of the large private hospital facilities. Procedure specific packages for wet AMD / Macular Degeneration, treatment with intravitreal / intraocular injections and cataract surgery have been set up for self-pay patients.
