About

Mr. Sam Molyneux graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2002. He completed his basic surgical training in the North East of England and moved to Edinburgh for his higher specialist training. At the end of his training he spent a year-long specialist training fellowship in Vancouver, Canada, before returning to Edinburgh in July 2013 to take up a consultant post in Trauma and Orthopaedics at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Mr. Molyneux's private practice reflects his NHS work. He has a specialist interest in hand, wrist and upper limb surgery, and runs a weekly hand and wrist clinic at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. He also has a special interest in sports upper limb injuries, trauma and exercise induced pain. Explanation

Mr Molyneux was very generous with his time ... he asked me to explain how I was feeling and give him a background to my injury. He then got me to do some movements and he monitored them and told me what his diagnosis was. He then pulled up historic notes and MRI scans and showed me as he confirmed his original diagnosis. He then explained next steps and outlined options. I left feeling very reassured that I'd done the right thing making the appointment and confident I understood what happens next.

Mr Jonathan Cowie

Orthopaedic Surgery
We trained together

Sam is an exceptional surgeon. He is a colleague at the Major Trauma Centre at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and undertakes some of the most complex, demanding trauma surgery with skill and efficiency. He is also one of our particular specialists in hand and wrist disorders. He is thoughtful, caring and hard-working, and I would have complete confidence if he were to operate on a member of my own family. I can recommend him without hesitation.

Is a colleague

Sam is a fantastic Orthopaedic surgeon. We work together in our busy department at The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, knowing him for a decade. I would be happy for him to consult and, if necessary, operate on any of my relatives or friends. He is diligent and knowledgeable and is a clear communicator of orthopaedic issues.
